Would appreciate the source of your comment, William before I make a decision on that. Thank you!

Money goes into lots of pockets due to housing sales:

Agent commissions

Staging fees

Professional photo fee

House prep: various contractors and building material suppliers

Lender fees

Mortgage interest

New furniture

New appliances

New flooring, etc.

The list goes on...

Not sure if $50K is a good number but housing does a lot more for the economy than just put a roof over owner's heads.

There is enough for everyone providing we don't interfere (greed) with it. America has a living economy meaning it has to keep going no matter what. If it stops, it takes prisoners. Not good

I would like to see the ACTUAL STORY you are quoting, which so far you have not shown. Googling this multiple ways gives me NOTHING. Copying/pasting 'yuh-huh, CNBC' is hardly proof. LMFAOOOOO

I'm not going to worry about the source of that number... I think it's pretty darn safe to say that ANY SOLD home puts $$$ into the economy...  I do think that the amounts for insurance and taxes shouldn't count though since it's not "added money".  I'd be curious about the amount of NEW money put into the economy w/ each purchase...  Let's start w/ a gallon of paint, followed by countless trips back to the home improvement store for more.

I am not sure what source would be considered reliable for many of the people on this platform.  I expect NAR wouldn't be, but here is their figure from 2019. Every home sale adds more than $88,000 to the economy

How is that calculated? Can't be true of all homes. Is that an average?

Yes, as John mentioned a lot of people(agents, title and escrow reps, inspectors, stagers, handymen, etc etc) , a state, city,  etc. and IRS funds benefit from a sale of the house.

Yes, I've heard something like this and can believe it. Think of all the staging, prep, listing, marketing, closing, and post home expenses. Then you add the buyer side to that. It is easy to see how one house puts a lot of money into the economy. That's why the government often works to get home sales going when the economy is sluggish.

And by the way, NAR says it is $88,000.
