Very rarely Bob and it depends on the subject and my level of interest.  I'm not a fan of going off to some unknown site for no good reason.

Rarely (5% of the time) unless I know & trust the author and what they are posting is of interest. Many times people don't have their link open in a new window and I hate being taken off Active Rain to read the rest. If you're going to link, have the courtesy of it opening in a new window.

It depends on the content of the post.  I used to link back to my WordPress site - read the full story.  I no longer do that. I never intended anyone from AR to click the link ... it would be for other readers if any. 

I lean toward NO and if not that, I pause assessing the risk. Not user friendly

If the opening of the topic is of value, I likely will.  It's a tactic I use elsewhere to drive traffic to my website with listings.

If someone posts an article that they found interesting, I'd say I read it about half the time.  If it is something that piques my interest, I'll read it.

Sometimes, the link is for tangential information.  For example, if someone is posting an article an article about VA loans and there is a link to the VA.  If I needed the extra information, I'd click it.  But if I didn't need that extra information, I wouldn't.

If I am drawn in by an interesting post that will be expanded upon by viewing an other article to which it is linked, I may click. I can easily leave the subsequent post is I am not compelled to read it all.

I will follow them if I am interested in the full article.  It would be nice to have the whole article on AR, but I understand the strategy.

Depends what it is - I will say that AR used to have a ton more SEO juice than it does today, so it makes sense people would direct traffic to an outside blog/site/platform.  To each their own on this one...

Mostly .... I trust most people here to offer up a good story that would give me updates. I don't consider it spam but if it goes to their site or post, I report it.

Hardly ever. I have a specific amount of time I can spend reading posts, and I don't want to go to another page and have to read (again) the introductory part and find where I was reading. If it's so incredibly interesting that I really want to know the rest of the story, I'll click. But it's extremely rare.

It depends.  Linking within blog posts is one of many strategies for SEO.  Charra Hammett at YourSiteNeedsMe SEO Team explains this in detail in her blog posts.

If someone puts up a post with just "click here"... I don't click on that.

If I trust the person posting the link I might click on it.

I always feel a bit cheated when they try to force me to another site to finish the story.

Not very often. I sometimes included links in my localism posts to provide details that are too much to post in a blog. Or if it's something with copyright issues (link to a news article) I post the link instead. 

There is one member whose blogs I used to enjoy reading but some time ago that person started posting only the first 50 words (enough to get points for a blog). Then they had a link that took you to the blog on their website...I no longer read that person's posts. Sad what people will do for attention.

     All your media posts round robin each other and the whole idea is to share something worthwhile for information today. So sure do... the blog post on building on a Maine lake for example. It will cover a specific topic under that heading "shoreland zoning".

     Like say docks, wharfs and do's and don'ts with a link to "soil tests, septic systems on shoreland zoning". Or "lake property retainer walls", what's allowed today, when is a waterfront owner "grandfathered in".

     Provide information and like a buffet information silo, always having links to drill down into whatever topic that expands with each and every link. That makes every blog post worth the time to read, to watch the embedded video and take away valuable information Bob "RealMan" Timm .

     It's not "click here" and the word hyper ready to whisk you away... just highlight the word or words you want to emphasize. To let your reader know there is more here, here and here to tap into even more information if they want and have time. No pressure, just available addition information to expand the original blog post's purpose. Always up to them whether they tap and sit back to glean more or not.
