I ignore WhatsApp on the whole. I have friends overseas who use it to make free calls, but I haven't found it reliable. I believe it's owned by Facebook, so just as they can hack your Messenger I'm sure your WhatsApp can be hacked, as well.

I have it and I use it, but only with people I know. It was the easiest way when I had a client out of the country to let her know I'd sent an email to her for signature or review. She was paying too much while out of the country for texts if she was away from her wifi there. So she asked me to NOT text when she was out of the country. NO WAY would I do it with a random person who texted me first.
