I've done this with older outdated homes but never heard the term "white boxing". I agree with that staging some older outdated homes is like putting lipstick on a pig. 

New term for me. I don't see enough houses present in such a manner that the tend, if you call it that, needs to have a name.

Yawn.  No offense to you, but this is simply leaving a vacant home empty and saving the money on staging.  Nothing new and something that we've done for decades until we started staging our vacant homes.  I guess we're trend setters.

I am tired on new takes about old well-known issues that need no help to be understood. Have people forgotten that it is the meaning behind the word that is relevant? We have to spend more time connecting not wondering or going on tangents? Arguing how to get there is foolish & time-consuming. Bring back the Keep it simple principals. "White Boxing" by other terms has been around for years. Remember the 1970's when relocations were common and homes were set to "neutral"! What is new has been done before under a different name.

I have endorsed the concept intuitively; good to know now there is a term for it.
