Someone made an account with your photos and name Peter. You can report it to FB and it should be taken down.

Hi, Peter Mohylsky. Broker -BRIX REALTY
Log on to Facebook. If you cannot log on to your own account you have probably been hacked and the hacker changed the password. If you can log on proceed as below.
Do a search for yourself. If more than one account comes up, it is likely that your account has been cloned. Someone is pretending to be you. They may send friend requests to those who are already on your friends list trying to trick them into accepting the bogus request. If your friends accept the new account, it is likely that they will soon be receiving FB messages and, eventually, pleas for money or something similar.
Select the account that is the clone and open it. Note the 3 buttons on the right of the screen near were the "Message" link is. Click on those buttons. A dropdown box will open. Look at the title in that box for "Find Support or Report Profile". Click on that link. A new box will open up. Check the link that says "Pretending to Be Someone". Check "Me".
I tried this out with a friend's account and I did not go beyond that step because I do not want to cause a problem with my friends account. I think the results you will get will be self-explanatory.
Cloning FB accounts is very common. I have had it happen to me and it just happened to a neighbor last week.
I am not a FB expert. I have a daughter who works there.

sounds like a clone. You cannot send a friend request to an existing account.

I am not necessarily a Facebook fan although I do visit and use the platform.
I've noticed several people I know in the AR community that were recently hacked/cloned, whatever we want to call it, and the fake account sending friend requests.
How does that happen? My guess is, in some way it is tied to a lack of security.

OH MAN I have heard this a dozen times in the past week! Someone used your photo, created a dummy account and tried to friend your friends which becomes a phishing scam. Tell your friends THIS IS MY ACCOUNT, don't accept anything anywhere else!
Do a FB search for your name and town . . . see if anyone else from anywhere else is using your photo or name, then report them!
This is happening a lot to folks who have big friend lists and public posts.

I am not a fan of facebook at all but I do have a profile there. I see that sort of thing happening all of the time, it is surprising that it has been happening for so long yet facebook has not figured out how to avoid it happening. I have heard that you change your password and you should be good to go. Perhaps as others have said, someone just created a profile to look like yours and in doing this I would think didn't even truly hack your actual account.

I have a half dozen pending friend requests that I suspect to be cloned accounts.
Unfortunately most of them block the person with whom they cloned so that your friends can see it but you cannot.
Have your friends report the clone for you.

sounds like you were cloned. Generally when hacked you can no longer access your own account.

Happened to me recently. I get these all the time. If I get a friend request who isn't friends with a lot of people I know, I usually dive deeper before accepting it. If you ever get a request from someone you thought you were already friends with, search your friends list. If a friend says they got another request from you, have them report it. And like everyone else said, change your password and do two factor authorization.

This just happened to me & I was not hacked. Change your password immediately & then check to see if you have been cloned. Do a search for your name & see what comes up. Mine had like 9 'clones' with my picture but no information. I reported it & they are still working on it.
.
Don't know why people would do this.

You've probably been cloned. It you were "hacked" someone guessed your password and could log in. You need to ensure your passwords are strong and not used on multiple sites.

You should probably at least change your password, then find the other account and have it removed.

Usually changing your password is what everyone suggests. You can report it, and also many people just post a warning on their fb profile to alert all of the fb friends not to accept any friends requests from you.

It happens all the time... it's not exactly "hacking"... they call it "spoofing". It happens when you don't have your privacy settings truly private. When someone friends you (or sometimes just views your profile) if your privacy settings aren't truly private ... they can see all of your friends... and then they create a fake profile... and invite all of your friends.
Once your friends "friend" them (thinking ohmigosh... I thought we were already friends) they then go through THAT person's friend list and repeat the process.
Usually they then send out DM's to all those people asking them to join some sketchy website, or hit them up for money. It's all very creepy.
Set your privacy setting so that only your true friends can view your stuff, and then be very careful as to who you become friends with.

Peter that happened to me last week as well. Apparently they are impersonating me and not having much luck, thankfully. Several people reached out to me to let me know and a few also reported it. I did send in a report to FB. Since I did I haven't heard anymore about it from anyone.
Good luck getting rid of the creep!
