I do not think that times of uncertainty are when people decide to make big changes.

Wars happen all over the world regularly.  The middle east has been at war with itself for generations.  Israel and Palestine.  China and Turkey.  China and Hong Kong.  China and Taiwan.  The US housing market hasn't been impacted by them yet.  I don't see this one impacting the US either, unless we get dragged into a conflict.  We would have a severe problem with the weakening of our military and military advisors who can't organize a withdrawal from Afghanistan, let alone a war.  George S. Patton they are not!

I do think it may taper a little bit, if people's down payments were in the stock market, however when the market tanks, housing becomes more popular for investors... so who knows.

There are many larger issues, especially here in California, that would have a much bigger impact on demand.  One main one will be the potential seven rate hikes and potential for a large rate hike.

Quite the opposite. In my experience people tend to stay where they are during unsettled times such as this and want to be around familiar places and people. Add in inflation, rising interest rates and the ripple effect around the world from this crisis and I think real estate will either maintain the status quo or possibly see a bit of a decline unless this is resolved quickly.

Tony,

I am with Doug Dawes .  I am hoping this war would find a way to disappear!  It is such a stupid solution to whatever the problem is. /a

Are they choosing not to live in their homes or are they no longer inhabitable because they have been blown up?

The Russian power grab directly affects Ukraine not our real estate. If the U.S. gets involved...maybe!

The needs of those in search of a home here is not affected by the happenings in the Ukraine at this time. Our economy dictates our movements.

Here or in Ukraine?  This tragedy goes far beyond real estate, for both the Ukrainians and the world.

too soon to tell what effect, if any this would have on the U.S. market, the price of gas and staples and the unsustainable rate of inflation are of more importance to most, methinks.

I hope not. Our inventory is already under 700 units in my main county. So if the demand was to increase we are going to have a major inventory issue…more so than we always have.

I've wondered the same. First of all, it is very sad what is happening. I hope our economy doesn't decline. With gas prices it is feeling a little too familiar.
