Real Estate is a better investment. The stock market is more of a roller coaster and I do not expect it to affect the market as low as inventory is and the rates are still low.

The stock market goes up and down and so do real estate prices.

Tony,
As someone I highly respect says, t serves as a reminder of a classic investing adage: it's not a stock market, it's a market of stocks. Point being: if you don't look underneath the surface, you can miss a lot about the dynamics that are driving the indices one way or the other.
They are different investments, and both are good when made by smart people. A

The stock market has not crashed. There are always fluctuations.
The real estate market is impacted by supply and demand, a very simple formula.

The stock market is reacting to inflation and the prospect of rate increases. A recession is a possibility and that will affect real estate. To what degree will it affect real estate? That is the unknown.

There will be some people who will panic. I will be leaving my stock money in the stock and my real estate money in real estate.

The market is correcting this past few weeks due to Fed interest rates going up/inflation. People have been using stocks to make investment buys for as long as it all began. Up and down.....I'm used to it.

Stock market and real estate both fluctuate. Inflation plays a part as does supply and demand. Both even out a bit long term

I agree with Roy Kelley on this. There was a dip - a blip in the market, not a crash. That's what the market does every single day.

I'll be careful not to open this Pandora's Box too widely. In short, bad news for the economy = good news for mortgage rates (and vice versa). Lower interest rates provides stronger purchasing power for Buyers (and again, vice versa). As rates begin to rise, borrowers who are already capped from a debt-to-income (DTI) ratio perspective will find that their maximum payment will afford them less of a loan amount, which would in turn theoretically reduce their purchase price maximums. If enough Buyers become further limited, their offer amounts will reduce accordingly. If Sellers ultimately accept lower offers, we will have lower comps, and thus the rapid rate of appreciation will slow (and even stop for the near term).

I see no "mini crash" just normal market fluctuations. The relationship between the two is much more involved than a simple answer here.

When the stock market creates wealth, the players (Wall Street) get big bonuses and might be likely to buy or trade up to bigger houses; that's one relationship. Overall, real estate activity may suffer if there is a major stock market event that might deplete wealth.

It is customary to shift from one to another for investors and also to include a diversity too. Everything right now is performing reasonably. What drives everything is the concept of investment money should never be idle

There has always been an inverse relationship between the stock market and the real estate market. Stocks can appreciate and depreciate fast and are easy to buy and sell yourself. Real estate does not appreciate rapidly, it's a slow-growth long-term investment (in normal times) that is fairly recession-proof. It is not easy to get into or out of and generally cannot be done yourself.
When stocks are a great and quick way to make money, people move their investment assets into the stock market. When the stock market is volatile or in a bear cycle, they invest in real estate. In the end, it all depends on your goals and risk tolerance.

Nothing new here. If we have lived long enough we have seen it all before - it's a cycle of up down and all around in varying degrees.

As Roy said, the stock market ebbs and flows for different issues going on at the time, it will come back.
