Barbara Todaro, the Queen of print media would say no! She perfected the use pf postcards and used newspapers successfully and incorporated social media into the mix.

I do.

I started a postcard campaign late last year to land owners of 5+ acres who live out of state. I've closed on one deal from that, have another under contract, two more nearing readiness for listing and about five more  who aren't ready yet.

I use newspaper advertising, which I just started a few months ago. I've had just a few calls from that so far but recently made some tweaks so we'll see how that goes.

Print media is alive for me.

The postcards I receive these days from other real estate agents suggest that print media might be the next new old thing. I tract the activity in my community. In the last 18 months ... none of the listings are from the agents that mailed the postcard.

We have been hearing this for some time, and yet over and over agents provide data that indicate that print media can work, depending on what you are doing and your market.

I've done no print media advertising in home magazines, newspapers, etc. in probably a good 15 years. Stopping that had no impact on my business at all.

Do I use print in marketing materials and to keep in touch with my sphere. Absolutely. Then again, I don't consider that "media."

I disagree. Quarterly mailings are successful for my business. Brick and mortar news agencies have become a part of the past here because everything has moved online but the paper is still printed and distributed. I do very little magazine advertising.

Fred,

It really depends on the marketplace, and the once we have worked in the longest, we still create print pieces as well as digital pieces for our client's marketplace.  Both get read, and the feedback is great.  A

Not dead here. Newspapers are still being printed and agents are advertising in them, and we get constant post card mailings from numerous businesses including real estate. Most magazines contain mostly luxury home ads. I use post card mailing the most out of those. Most of the smaller papers around here have a " Business Card Corner" in back which is popular with many agents and other businesses. Most papers also have a digital edition online.

I think it really depends on the marketplace. There are certain neighborhoods in my area where I have been using print media. My last listing came from a Just Sold postcard and the buyers who contacted me last Sunday are renters who received a postcard. For me, it works.

Until people forget how to read...print works. How we use it is unique to our market place. Is tied to the ROI and you adapt print to use it differently than earlier in your career or your approach next year. Life changes to make it interesting and a sport.

Depends how the "print" is done. Is it functional? Attractive? Most importantly, it must answer this question thought by the recipient i.e. WHATS IN IT FOR ME? I have seen calendars, frameable portraits, and genuine  "free" value offers that prevail over production marketing junk

Fred, now you know that you can't believe everything that a lot of people say (I could cite several examples, some ploitical, but I won't  😂  ) .

I use direct mail every week; I use newsletters every month; newspapers and magazines....been doing it for 35+ years. A "lot of those people" that said that years ago are no longer in the business. 😂

I advetise in a Waterfront magazine once a year because it tends to stay around longer and is looked at mainly by tourists from out of country which is primarily my Buyers.  However, our listings automatically go to several online newspapers such as NYT, WSJ and dozens of luxury online magazines.  I stopped print adverstising like Nina Hollander, Broker , many many years ago.

Print media IS DEAD!
No real estate agent should spend a dime on paper, ink and stamps. Save your nickles and dimes to give to Zillow.
Leave all that print media non-sense to me. Be aware, I also don't get all twisted out of shape when someone knocks on my door.
Reality is they BOTH work!

I think it depends on the target, the goal, and tracking for ROI. I do think it can work. Everyone sends emails and those get deleted. Postcards can help you get in front of home sellers. I have had people call me to sell after receiving my postcards.

It's MOSTLY dead. It's not nearly what it once was. I do hyper targeting for the best results. I purchase an ad in a monthly magazine for a masterplanned community. If I do a postcard, it's due to a really great message, like selling two homes in the same area, especially if it's in the masterplanned community I already have a monthly ad in.
