Please do not overlook the enabler in the whole scenario....THE JUDGE!
How often has the decision of JUDGES led to the culprit committing more crime and the subsequent wreckage of the lives of others.
And, I have seen this action before when the banks betrayed their borrowers and headed down the foreclosure path. I have not read of ANY of those who stripped the house of those things they updated suffering consequences.
This tenants action WAS foreseeable, and the JUDGE held accountable.

Wow, that is terrible, unconscionable, disgusting, etc etc. That person had huge anger and self-control issues. I hope there were consequences for all involved.

This tenant should definitely be behind bars, Bob Crane. However, the Property Manager should lose her license for negligence and shady practices. The best thing to come out of all of this? The Director of DORA contacted me unprompted, said she had seen the story, gave me a link for my client to file a formal complaint, and if my client doesn't, then I need to 😇

Back in the meltdown of 2008, I hate to say it, but we've seen (and bought) much worse. Our first rental back some 30 years ago now had some bad tenants in it. No profanity, but everything else here and then some. Melted wax on the carpets, cement in drains, etc.
Personally, I'd buy Mimi's listing in a heart beat. It's enough to scare off the casual investor/flipper, but on a scale of 1-10, I honestly put this at a 3 or a 4 damage level. She did a great write-up though!

Thanks for shaing this link. Those of us who have sold hundreds of foreclosures have seen some sad situations.

Wow! This is terrible. I saw many homes during the recession where people had melted red wax and threw it everywhere. One of my Realtor friends tells a story of how one of the tenants he evicted from his personal investment property poured concrete in all the toilets. This kinds of destruction should be a felony with big consequences.

This is bad. I was once appointed as a trustee for a bank thinking of foreclosing on a property. The borrower had dug a shelter under the slab to compromise the foundation and rewired the main breaker box to short out if power was turnd on. The crowning blow was the amster bath toilet being placed on the roof with a Santa sticking out of the lid and gallons of red paint on the roof. After this one by Mimi, I may have to settle for second place. By the way it had to be torn sdown.
