I have belonged to a service group for years that meets for breakfast. It has led to leads and business.

If you are active in any group, you have a chance to display the type of person that you are. Make sure the group members know that you are a real estate agent. Then it is up to them to decide if you are the right person to help them with their real estate needs.

It depends if you like the breakfast.  or actually do you have a better use of your time?  That is my big threshold. I am a firm believer that realtors do not make money hangng out with other realtors.  the social aspect of this business is definitely different than the business side.

What is the best use of my time today?

It certainly can, Will Hamm

Yet, I am adding that it will depend on the networking group. Many networking groups are tight groups that know each other well and confidently make referrals.

I've attended some groups where the people seemed only to be there for what they could get and less interested in giving. That is a formula that does not work well.

Along those lines, the people must be able to provide exceptional service to get my endorsement. Some people lack the ability to do tht.

it definitely can, depends on what you put into it, and suggest your mindset is helping group members referring business to them, think you will find you get a better return. also, caveat is to vet the members to make sure they are competent and trustworthy.

Yes. Networking is a magnificent way to meet people who may have business connections that could lead to more opportunities for your business. Whether it's through an informal meeting at a coffee shop or on-site at one of our weekly breakfast meetings, there are plenty of ways you can network with other professionals in your industry or other industries and get connected with potential leads.

Simply going out to breakfast has been a better tool for business. Most conversations will turn to real estate at some point.

Yes, I believe it does.  Business always comes for me from the people that know and trust me.  Networking is a great way to show that you are trustworthy and people are willing to call upon you when they have a referral.

I have never found such networking events particularly useful. I'd rather have breakfast with a previous client... that leads to business.

I know it does, if you have the right group.  I've done loans for fellow Rotarians, and just being a Rotarian got me a meeting with one of the highest producing real estate agents in my market when I was just a year into the business.

Not all groups are created equal, but a good group is good for business and for the soul : )  Plus, who doesn't love breakfast?

You get what you give.  All networking should have a platform.  Purpose/theme of meeting (agenda)

Articulating haves and wants spreads the word over time.

Handing out business cards and not exchanging value should exclude you from the group.😎

I belonged to a BNI-type group when I was working and the answer is definitely YES! Everyone is there to give and get leads.  I got quite a bit of business from it. Any networking group is good if done properly. I was very involved in various golf organizations and got a lot of business from that. I never actually "solicited" for business but everyone knew what I did so when they had real estate questions or needed real estate services they talked to me.  What could be better than getting business from having fun?

I'm a big believer in networking.  But have not liked the breakfast club thing. Too forced. I make more contacts at the athletic club I belong to and where I swim every morning.  Better for my health, too.
