     We purchased a property five months ago.  Today we can sell it for two or three times what we paid.  Granted, we got "a deal" when we bought it, but a 200% to 300% increase in less than six months?  I have made money on real estate investments before, but nothing like this!

Wow, congratulations to your brother, and sometimes riding the wave does pay off.    I bought a new home almost 3 years ago, seeing LOTS of equity.

I love hearing success stories.  Good job on taking a risk and having it pay off!  Our brokerage has exceeded expectations in this strong seller's market with home prices through the roof. I am, however, starting to see a small shift with more inventory coming on board - which is a very good thing!

There are savvy investors out there that profit in just about every market.

Due to keeping an eye on sodium levels, I have an issue with "salty pros".  In addition, a definition of thriving is always useful.  In context as well as in contrast.

I enjoyed the ride when I was active. Now, in retirement I am watching others have success. Timing is everything they say. It can be if you don't panic!

Our portfolio has become less populated in recent years, and is likely to become lighter before the market turns and we buy them back.

Our home has appreciated. My kids both purchased homes in the past 6 months and their homes have already appreciated. Of course, you only realize it when you sell with the exception of higher taxes of course. We're not going anywhere right now since we don't have a great reason to move and we like our home. We just did a kitchen and floor update in 2019 and we're enjoying it. 

I bought a new home in July, 2020, JUST in time to catch that ride as a home two doors down sold for considerably more later in the year. We have seen significant increase in value just since our purchase.

The home we sold in the city went for far more than we ever thought it would sell for in September, 2020. We thought we would test the market; if we got a nibble, we'd sell it; otherwise, we'd hold onto it. That one was almost paid off so, like you and your brother, we enjoyed a substantial windfall. Neither of us anticipated we would realize the profit we did for many years when we built that home 6 years prior.
