Hey, I am still trying to determine if that dress is gold or white.  And how old is that topic of debate?

It may make for interesting Internet fodder but I think I'm going to sit out this lively discussion - no thanks!

To avoid doing it wrong I advocate not eating toast.

If one needs to eat it ... the right way is the way that does not cut a finger or a thumb, or toe. Gawd forbid the knife drops and hits the foot.

Depends on what you're eating.  BLT, Grilled cheese: 1 or 2.  PB&J: 2 or 3.

Personally, I don't care so long as it tastes good.

NO Cut = I'm your Dad, eat you lunch.
2,3. I'm your Mom, eat your lunch
1. A special cut because, I love you.
So it depends.

For most of my sandwiches, I prefer your #1 cut as it bites so nicely from the tip and into the sandiwch and then finishes on the other tip. Very nice. For certain others, the simple your #2 will suffice. Perhaps I have done your #3 and didn't know it as the mission was to bite and eat....not cut & stare

Hmm, guess I have more pressing issues to worry about. Interesting question with an answer I suspect depends on who is doing the toasting and eating. So...butter? Jelly? Jam? Plain? Avocado?

Well, my mom always did #1 so that's what I used to do also. But I can't remember the last time I made a sandwich with sliced bread or had toast. I'd probably continue with #1.. but since I don't have toast it's sort of a moot point!

1 x 2.  I make toast for my grandson and cut it in 4 little triangles and he eats it well that way.
