I have a niece who is a teacher as is her husband. They live in the area of Northern California that is threatened by fire. Last week, school was supposed to start on a part in-person and part distant learning basis. On that day, they were notified that they had to evacuate their home.

They are now back in their home.

The start of school has been delayed.

Around my area, most schools are stating with distant learning. Good luck to all the students, parents and teachers. They are all going through a very difficult period.

They are back online to school. CA was smart about keeping (most) kids, families and teachers healthy and safe by not re-opening schools. All my school teacher clients are teaching from school, but to a web cam not a full classroom.

Most are learning from home. My hat is off to parents who are working from home while their children are homeschooling.

It is clear that in Ohiio, like in Florida, ensuring continued tax funding of the school system takes precedence over public health.
I trust the informed citizen used these past months to discipline their bodies to become lean fighting machines. Fat weakens, Covid does the rest.
After all, the whole plan was to flatten the curve NOT prevent infection.

Each district in Ohio has discretion, mostly all online here.

Will ~ All the school districts that I know of in the Metro DC area are reopening 100% virtual, at least for the first quarter/half of the school year.  Though there is a significant portion of parents that want at least a hybrid model of some days per week physically in the school building.

Hope everyone stays healthy! Next week here, in-person in our town,  if parents so choose; can opt for distance learning.

Our schools started up today, hopefully we will not lose too many people before the realize what a foolish move this was.

In NY, schools start after Labor Day.  I think in my area, half home/half in person.  (and people are welcome to stay at home).  We'll see how things progress 2 weeks after start.  I have a hunch that NYC will be a disaster for a # of reasons.  Here, 30-60 minutes away (pending on where in the county) most at least have the technology and the combo of more space (overall) and people being careful/cautious, it might work. But, we'll see.

In my county, there are many that are either planning to home school or just try remote.  So that may make things easier.  They are being more sensitive to teacher needs.

Many in NYC are upset (teachers and parents), and as a result more are moving here and/or retiring and/or creating pods.

Online school in my area.  Most the parents I know are eager for in person to start up again.

Online school starts tomorrow the 26th in the Wenatchee school district. I am aware of one private school that plans to hold classes in the classroom.

Our local schools are going to be online only until specific metrics are met for the county. My youngest goes back to the University of Oregon next week. U of O is using a hybrid approach. Large classes will be held online; smaller classes will be held in person with appropriate social distancing and mask requirements. After seeing the problems with large colleges opening in August, I hope U of O students will avoid the large parties leading to students being sent home/online.

Schools will be online until January in our area.

Here in Long Beach kids are at home through at least the beginning of next year!

Our Grandchildren are doing Zoom Schooling or Home Schooling.

My wife's a kindergarten teacher and she's been at it for a couple weeks now. Her district started the year off with remote learning. It's been quite a challenge rebuilding the wheel of eductation. Arizona's COVID cases have been on a rapid decrease so it won't be long before they'll have to start all over with in person learning.

I feel for parents of school age children. I think I would keep mine home because you really can't control what goes on outside your home and it puts everyone at risk. 

Here in NH some are full time in person, some are remote and and some hybrid, meaning 2 days in school and 3 days remote. The teachers unions are protesting to keep in person schools closed

Our Carlsbad students started today - with distance learning. Other areas started a little earlier. The grandkids in LA started last Thursday. Such a tough time for all these kids and their parents!!

School started here yesterday, Monday, but it is up to the parents to decide if their children will attend in person, do elearning or some other online school such as virtual. Every county in Florida is doing things a little differently so it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Reports from several media outlets that parents in Tennessee were reporting that they were being forced to sign a waiver stating they will not eavesdrop on their children’s online lessons.

Schools in Oregon, outside of very rural areas, will start online.

The school experience is such a vital part of growing up that it needs to be respected, nurtured and prized for youth goes by the by never to return. Yes to schools and school choice too...Yay for schools for everyones sake!
