Schools usually start the first week in August, now they supposedly will after Labor Day weekend in masks. If people can go to a politician's funeral and sit right next to each other in church, schools can open on time to educate our children, churches should be open to those of faith and all small businesses should have never closed.

Connecticut is opening schools after Labor day weekend, which is delayed due to Covid. They'll have a Remote Learning option available otherwise it's masks required for inside school.

Hi Will- I think the two school districts in our area are delayed. My niece's district will offer in class or online learning, at least for now. My grandson's school has him returning one day a week (based on his last name, and then 4 days virtually.

Complicated answer.... I'm writing a post on it today.  Delayed and the offer of digital learning program also.  Some things... labs and testing that cannot be done digitally will allow students to come when the rest of the students are not there or into a part of the building not accessed by other students except one at a time with cleaning between.  But I believe they are doing what they need to do to provide the best and safest learning environment for students.

You bet. I trust parents understand THEY have the final say regarding sending their children into the petri dish. 
Be aware, this is not about health and safety but the dollars coupled to the number of days school is in session, open for students. States need to waive those requirements for 2021.

Depends on what you mean by "your area". Different school districts and private schools are making different decisions. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area most are reluctant to open on a traditional basis and are opting for distant learning which, of course, has its own problems.

Our schools normally open after Labor Day, so they still have a long time to debate.

I believe almost all are doing a combo of half in class/half at home (2 cohorts) and everyone has option to do from home.  It seems that there is a lot of concern and a good portion will do from home...which in turn would make it easier to spread out/handle things for those that choose the half school option.

that is ingoing plan, but I have a hunch it will somehow differ after a few weeks.
