Dario not so easy to combine it into 5 service area. Our commisioner has been very firm about working outside ones service area. I think there are around 10 or so at the least. For instance most Phoenix Metro area agents do not work up in the Prescott area but rather refer out, nor would they work the area East of Phoenix towards NM.  Same goes for the Flagsaff area, which is where I began in the business.  I had about a 50 to 60 mile radius around Flag which did not include the canyon or the NW section of the state. Same goes for the Tucson area...

I'm curious as to how you plan to use this info.  If you want me to really drill it down I can do that for you.

Having attended school there and vacationed there, it's the state I've spent the most time in after CA and Hawaii. I have driven from Tombstone to Flagstaff and short-term stayed in Phoenix, Glendale & Peoria, so I'll chime in:

  1. Flagstaff : may need an East/West division?
  2. Phoenix: my North/South lines may need adjustment.
  3. Tuscon

I lived in Arizona from 1976-1979.  My family lives in Scottsdale today (brother, nephews, nieces).   Here is my take:

    1.  The Valley of The Sun, aka Phoenix Metropolitan area.

    2.  El Camino del Diablo (Yuma and Pima counties).

    3.  Tucson and southeast of Tucson, including Tombstone, Fort Huachuca, Bisbee.

    4.  The Mogollon Rim.

     5.  The Canyon.

Well . . . I'm there. Soooooo . . .

I might either:
Do what TJ did, exactly, OR
Do what TJ did EXCEPT the lines would be VERTICAL.

  • Mohave, La Paz, Yuma
  • Coconino, Yavapai, Maricopa, Pinal, Pima, Gila
  • Apache, Navajo, Greenlee, Graham, Cochise, Santa Cruz

The reason I would probably do it that way is that Flagstaff is more like Phx etc than like our market in Mohave . . .

The center counties are the more populated than either of the other 2 . . .

I've been to AZ once, so I can't comment on the breakdowns with the exception of "what Candice A. Donofrio and Brian England have to say about it."

Since it's for a wedding photography site, I'd search for the top venues and make divisions around them.  If you're selling regions to photogs, then I'd suggest making them with a fairly even split of the top venues. If you have one area overloaded, that may create an imbalance with the other regions, which might have a negative impact on pricing.

Back in December I was helping a wedding photographer out here with her SEO (one of the more interesting dates I've ever done, LOL!).  There was a site that sounds along similar lines to what you're thinking of, but I don't recall the name.  It listed out the venues and photogs bought ad space on it and showcased some of their photos of the venue.

I'd also look at the natural terrain boundaries, population densities and study the traffic (probably more of a Cali concern there) and that may drive pricing too.

The U.S. District Court uses 3 districts, with 5 counties each:

Prescott Division (northern counties)- Apache, Coconino, Mohave, Navajo, and Yavapai.

Phoenix Division (central counties)- Gila, La Paz, Maricopa, Pinal, and Yuma.

Tucson Division (southern counties)- Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, and Santa Cruz.

That is a tough question since the population is different in different areas.  I would likely do radius circles of like 50 or 100 miles, but obviously there would be more demand in Phoenix and Tucson because of the population.  Most service areas would only need one rep, but some might need multiple reps to service the demand.

arizonaI would likely chose these 5 regions, though a few of these would be a bit sparse.

I would not know where to start - not familiar with the state.  It looks like you have some good suggestions from those that know it well.

All the best to you with this new endeavor.

I was wondering where this was going glad Anna Banana Kruchten Arizona's Top Banana!  clarified it and funny here in CA as a Realtor you could be anywhere.... now keep in mind you would need to be out of your mind to provide coverage to areas you are not familiar with.... after all California is the most litigious state in the Union:)) not worth it...
