There are several influences that cause upward or downward pressures on the markets. The last election results saw a surge in the stock market to all-time highs. It's safe to say if one candidate is viewed as having regressive policies and wins the markets could trend downward. That being said...If these people keep printing money with abandon we'll all be unhappy

Many people warn that if their favorite candidate does not win the election, they will move to Canada.

I don't know where in Canada, maybe the Klondike gold mining region in Yukon Territory?

But, I can't speak Yukonese. Maybe I'll just drink a Canadian beer, watch an NHL hockey game, and invest my life savings of $100 in Canadian beer companies.  ($1 US = $1 million Canadian, in Celsius metric conversion)

Is it politically correct to use the word Canadian, or should I use the expression "our northern neighbors"? But, I'm in Colorado. My northern neighbors are in Wyoming. Is it OK to say Wyoming?

I don't want to offend the other states. Should I list all 50 states to be inclusive? Please don't riot if I didn't mention your state.

Tony,

I would suggest you talk to your financial adviser or stock broker to get their scoop.  I do not consider myself an expert on this subject, which is why we would rely on a seasoned professional's opinion.  A

I don't believe it matters if we have a Red or Blue President. We are headed for trouble because of forbearance and financial strain of Covid19, about Halloween defaults will increase. This may be good for markets with no inventory, though it sounds hard.

Of more impact on the financial markets than who is elected President with be the financing of the  vastly deeper debt of the County, States, and all political subdivisions due to the pandemic. If that forces interest rates up, there will be an effect on real estate and the mortgage industry.

Whoever is President, of course, will be blamed.

For Real Estate, IT WON'T!!! Because you'll sell houses regardless.

Who's in office never has "ultimately" in my 21 year career.

My real point is don't give in to the fear mongering behind some of the questions. Your only say in who the president is or what he/she does is to vote.

So, be sure to vote and then get back to work; your business at hand is serving your clients with competence and character, not wallowing in fear based, paralysis of analysis over how the next 4 years will be based on the office of the presidency.

Ultimately, no matter who is in that office, you gotta do your job, run your business and serve your clients. Create your own economy no matter what!

The choices are pretty clear, low taxes vs high taxes, for the police against the police, for business vs against business, for the working class against the working class.... now with that said did you really not know the answer? Just wondering....

Some people will be happy and some will be depressed. The happy ones may feel good and buy a bigger home. The depressed ones may put their homes on the market and move to a bunker. Bunker homes may be big in 2021....Just saying. Jeff

The 2020 election is more likely to become a side show as covid, unemployment, foreclosures, evictions and expiry of Fed, state and local assistance plans are felt.

In an uncertain economy the sharks come out. Real estate will still change ownership, but using different strategies.

I'm not sure how Wall Street will respond to the redistribution of wealth.

There is no doubt with the threats from the Socialists towards Wall street, banks, the oil industry, airlines, auto manufacturing and big businesses that the stock market will tank if Biden wins. They have also threatened to go after 401 k's for  a new revenue source. The indicators will start in the fall in which direction they see the election going. Many businesses and investors could contract, sell off stock and start building cash reserves. That will affect the real estate market if banks stop lending due to the risk of a sharp recession.

I think the stock market will crash, no matter who is the president.
The whole thing is being propped up artificially.

Who will be left holding the bag?
Retail investors.

Who will make even more money?
Hedge funds and the like. They make money up or down.
