This isn't a war.  It's a virus.  Time to open up the country.

Richie, I'm not really seeing the unification, but more of the usual, political line division (for the most part) with the "we'll tell you what to do and you'd better do it because we're saving lives!" against the "you can't tell us what to do, we got rights, and you're killing the economy!".

People will find whatever they need to support their viewpoint of choice.
I get that it's bad in some places, but overall we've treated it like the entire country is NYC, and the risk factors are different in suburbia than they are in "urbia".  Bill

We cannot compare our present to anything in the past...and I agree with Alexandra.... let's move forward in a reasonable manner but tread lightly until we clearly understand what we're dealing with.... this is not the common cold.

I’m seeing neighbors, friends, networking partners, and associates with many impressive behaviors in how they’re handling themselves right now.
I’m also seeing it more like 9-11.
WWII had a more mature generation at large. I’m seeing grown up juveniles Protesting for the freedom to get exposed, sick and spread the virus all over again. 🙄

Change is a part of life. So is living history.  Day by day.  Moment by moment.  One battle at a time although they do seem to be coming at us quite quickly.

We are living in history as we live right on the timeline between yesterday and tomorrow called today.

I see some coming together but I don't equate it with WWII. There is much division in our nation

Yes we are living history BUT every day is history.... going back to the creation of Earth. I do think this event will be remembered because it was world wide however I think it will be forgotten within a generation or two. Just think Richie Alan Naggar how many today know nothing about the Nazi concentration camps or even believe that they are a myth.

I never thought there would be a pandemic living in this country but here we are! I think that we will see rapid innovations - some working, some not so much but could be used for other things down the road.

A really important part of history that we need to revisit right now is the United States Constitution. I'm uncertain whether they're teaching it anywhere these days.

To each their own.  I used to argue with my professors in college and grad school regarding how useless it was to compare and contrast the past to the present...We are living in the now, and every now is a change we live...A

Hi Richie, I don't see this nation coming together in any measure close to how our nation united after the shock and perfidy at Pearl Harbor.  My dad told me that he and his brother went to the US Navy recruiting center in downtown Cleveland to join the Navy on Monday, December 8th 1941, and thought they would get there early an hour before it opened and the line was already SIX and a half blocks long!!!!!

We really don't have a clue what sacrifice is like and at this time 78 years ago we were losing the war and losing badly.  This was truly a threat to our nation's whole existence, and the American people did step up!  Our Pacific garrisons were swallowed up one by one as they fought valiantly with what little they had.   Yes our nation did mobilize and shift production to meet the life threatening challenge of the situation!   The irony is in 1942 we went to full production with all hands on deck to survive, and to meet the pandemic we were closing businesses to meet the threat.

Americans are tough and resilient and can meet the challenge at hand.  We need to let freedom work and restore common sense.

Good or bad our nation's foreign policy was haunted by the surprise attack at Pearl Harbor and the unchecked rise of the dictatorships that took us to war, and we pursued a very active foreign policy that involved us in many future conflicts after the end of WWII.  Look at how we reacted after 9-11 with our foreign policy.

Will we learn anything from this pandemic and how will life in America change, if any,  for our future?  This too will pass but what will our elected leaders see as "the lessons" to be learned and how will life in America change for the future?

History DOES MATTER!

I could have lived without this period in history. I am also seeing a definitive division. Somewhere between politics and the media is the truth. On the streets i see three types of people. Those so scared they wont go outside, those who go out and scream at people not wearing masks and those who are living life like they have. I do not think all states and cities should be treated like NYC. We have counties in NH with just 1 person to under 10 people in the whole county infected. My thought is people from infected ares should have been made to stay put. Here in teh Northeast, NY, CT and MA are hit hard. MA is still getting hammered. In NH we are doing great, all numbers are the decline. BUT people from MA, CT and NY are flooding here trying to escape their own areas. They could bring it here. Here in NH most infections now are in nursing homes. In the start nearly all were people who traveled to Europe.

So long as humans walk the earth there will be threats to our well being but the Coronavirus is on a global scale & a record number of people were infected or died. It is something that will go down in history like other  documented pandemics.  I see the majority of people complying with the quarantine & precautionary measures. If you live where there are a low # of cases be glad & let's hope we all see the number of cases come down enough to allow us to ease restrictions & get back to life as we've known it safely.

Yesterday was history and today will be tomorrow's history. I think most of us are ready to return to work...you can feel it. And if we need to wear masks to do it, then so what. Unfortunately, these days the truth exists only in the eyes of the beholder. That's not a good thing.
