As a former property manager I just see this as another move that keeps deadbeats from being evicted. There are many unscrupulous who will take advantage of this and the landlords will get burned.

Good landlords (yes I know there are bad ones out there as well) know who intend to pay and they know who they need to get rid of. This will just let the bad apples take advantage of the situation Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041

I think the tenants should have to apply for this based on not working. Several of my neighbors have 6 figure salaries and they always work from home. They do not need the break, they are still earning today. As a landlord, I want my capable tenants to pay their rent vs. a relief package I'll end up paying taxes for later as the economy demands payback for all our bail-outs later this year. It seems like this would snowball on us. My tenants are in Silicon Valley, I know they can telecommute by the nature of their high tech jobs.

It cannot be a blanket policy ... too many will take advantage when the "need' is not there.

May be the landlords who have a mortgage will sink with tenants w/o a bail out plan.

So the eviction and foreclosure moritoriums only applied to FHA insured loans.  In California, tenants can still be evicted for violating terms of their lease and for non-payment of rent.  It's been left to the individual counties and states if they wish to put a moritorium on evictions.

I'm expecting to get the question - and I will respond, depending upon the tenant and the circumstances around which they ask. I don't want to kick the can down the road unless absolutely necessary.
