I don't see too many seniors getting up and going shopping at 6am around here. For the ones that do go, good luck getting their shopping done in 1 hour. It looks more like Senior Mopping hour. It's mostly employees mopping and wiping down stuff with Clorox wipes. Many people here are volunteering to do the shopping for seniors.

Every grocery store in our area has done the same.  It is unfortunate that they didn't get input from our Health Care Professionals who have advised that this is one of the worst times to open for Seniors.  Most have their home help arriving in those 2 hours and the Seniors transportation is not available until 9am.  I instead, wished they'd made it simpler for all Seniors to have home delivery - they shouldn't be out!

A trip to the supermarket is an adventure anytime.  So many "interesting" sights, people-watching and real-life human experiments on full display.  Who needs amusement parks?

I get it, Barbara... I made the mistake of shopping at a Harris Teeter "next door" to Sun City in Indian Land because it was Thursday and senior day discount day... I have not repeated that experience at that store since. :)

The caveat I see is that few could out muscle you at checkout. Shop 'til they drop Barbara. If you must shop for groceries at 6am you're a Rough Rider and the older the better.

When I saw this yesterday I thought it wasn't the best idea. Why 6am? Why can't seniors go at 11am? I understand that they are trying to be helpful but is it really?

I am going to take my chances with the regular population.

No, Barbara, I haven't seen or notice any such event for shopping by seniors only yet in my area, but I would certainly consider going if a time opens up for seniors only.

I'm so grateful that stores are doing this - sure, it's dangerous, but it's less dangerous than a) going without food or b) shopping when everyone else is there.

Most of the Seniors i have talked to all state they are up at the crack of Dawn,...but the problem is 2 fold...shelves will still not be stocked and 2nd..your putting all the people that should be "protected" in the same area and the same time...not a good idea

Wow! That what it was.

I too was doing the grocery thing early this morning and found the store full of shuffling men. I expected. like seen in the mall food court, a gaggle of ladies clustered somewhere. None were found.

So, momma was left to deal with the health-care worker and poppa when to the store. 90% were holding a shopping list to their nose.

I thought that was a crazy idea - having all of the seniors go, en masse, through the narrow aisles of the grocery store. They're doing it here too and I would definitely not be found there during that time!!

I'm still sick so, I've been quarantined for a week now and am having my groceries delivered and left at my door. I'm not taking any chances of getting or passing anything to anyone.

I got out early yesterday for the first time in over a week. I was pleasantly pleased as to see how well the shelves were stocked (except for paper products). It was not crowded at 6:15 a.m.  I bought what I needed and got out of there. It was nice to get some fresh fruits and veggies.
