9/11, Bank crash in the 90's, Zika, Sars, bird flu, swine flu, h1n1... every year a new virus but the difference is this one has been politicized by the media to the extremes. People do not know when the media is now telling the truth or spreading panic for ratings or political reasons. It is spreading fear and teh DIFFERENCE is where in other years you did not have a media bent on taking down an administration putting people in this panic mode .

I lived in South Florida where packages were received in the mail.

During the early 80's the condomonium conversion craze went bust. We were also dealing with a Herpes outbreak. The humor was what is the difference between condominiums and herpes. The pessimists said someday there will be a cure for herpes!

We survived and went on to convert many more units.

The key is not to panic and adjust your sails!

Well... there was the aftermath of 9/11 and I lived through some amazing strikes in Paris back in the 1980's.

9/11 and other varying degrees of fear and uncertainty.  

This too shall pass. 

Exactly what Scott Godzyk said!  I'll add in Michale Milken and the S&L loan fiasco, plus the AIDS epidemic.  Not to mention localized events such as the 94 Northridge earthquake, various major local and state-wide wildfires, floods, tsunami warnings, The Watts Riots, state-wide manhunts... the list goes on.  Other parts of the country have tornados, hurricanes, snow storms, etc.

Only difference, as Scott said, is you have a corrupt media institution doing everything in it's power to destabilize a duly and legally elected President.  Everything from using 30 year old fiction books as the word-for-word dossier to tap Trump, to impeaching on hearsay with ZERO ACTUAL EVIDENCE OF A CRIME.  Mind you, the supposed crime he committed was exactly what Barrack HUSSEIN Obama did many times, as did Bill Clinton, as did both George Bushes.  It's also something almost every real estate agent, or negotiator in general, does... it's called using leverage and is Business 101 material.

Yes, not something I would dwell on.  We survived it all, and this too shall pass.  And if we all started to focus on all that is right rather than all that is wrong, we would be past this in no time...A

Of course. Most of us have.

Corona,Zika, Denga, Hep A, SARS, 911, BofA, tech crash and every year a new flavor of flu...and on and on and on.

Here in Florida, every summer brings the threat of a hurricane which suggests a 2 week 'you are on your own' period of 'suvival of the fittest.'

And still those who refuse to prepare EXPECT to be rescued. 

Nope, it was really a bad feeling. The panic I felt from others was scary.

Locally, yes. 9-11, for sure. But globally? No. This is unprecedented in my experience. 

Nothing on this scale before.

Every year we have something to talk about. 9/11, SARS, bird flu, swine flu, h1n1,  anthrax, Zika, herpes, stock market crashes, mortgage crises and many more. We all lived through it and we will get through this one. People are tired listening to the media, but if not this, what else are they going to talk about. Trump has been slow to react, but now he's listening since he has to virus. Sure, his doctors are saying he doesn't have it, but seriously, do you believe him? Can you imagine if he came out saying he has it? What would the stock markets do? I'll wait and see what happens in the next couple of weeks, seeing if he does more interviews and is seen in public to make sure. Don't trust a word he says on everything he talks about, so why would this be any different?

9/11

3 times at least.  We did not have the technology and based on mostly newpaper guidance. 

Only when the meteorologists forecast snow. They only for the milk and bread with those announcements. This has been much harder for shopping.

No, San Diego is relatively calm, grocery stores are busier but 80% stocked so far and behavior is mellow. I've been out and about daily as I'm healthy and working still. Business slowed slightly but my buyers have not yet.
