First off, they're not so special as to be the ONLY agent I could refer business to.  There are ALWAYS other qualified choices so IMO someone that has that big a hole in their character is NEVER going to be who I would send business to.

Second, yes, I'd seriously consider pointing it out to their broker.  The reality is if you're following the rules properly, your brokerage is one click away from being identified, and essentially if you as a broker allow those kinds of statements, you're condoning them.  You better be pretty darned sure your entire market is composed of ONLY like-minded individuals if you allow that kind of behavior to stand unchallenged.

I would let his/her managing broker know.  This dishrag is a company liability, and they should know that.

You MUST advise the designated broker. It is their license under which they are working. When will these people be accountable for their actions? This goes beyond Freedom of Speech.

If that person worked in my office (when I owned an office) I would NEED to know and they would be terminated immediately.

Candice,

We would have smelled a rat in the person if they came for an interview to join us.  In Los Angeles, we dealt with a diverse community of races and nationalities, and that kind of attitude was noticed by us in a nanosecond.

Second, an agent represents the company...if by some chance someone turned rabid, they would have been let go in a nanosecond also.  We were friends with all the brokerages in our area, and I would have called the broker.

Furthermore, I would not have anything to do with that agent, and no one in our circles would either.  YUKKKKY!

My first reaction is to avoid anyone who would wish death upon someone else. Professionalism is important, now more than ever. Election years bring out the best and the worst of us all.

But I would also do a gut check. Am I angry because I happen to like this particular political figure? Would I be angry if this political figure had wished death upon someone else to the same degree? In other words, am I reacting politically or professionally?

I am assuming this evil post was posted online in some social media group? As a Realtor, you are supposed to stay out of politics and act professionally, no matter what. As the broker of that agent, I would give them one choice and only one. Pass your ethical exam 100% the first time or you are out the door, period.

We are in an environment that allows for conspiracy theories to rise into power and to be taken seriously, even if they shouldn't. If I were to follow the rabbit hole of this hypothetical situation - don't you think this would give into anger and trigger an even stronger response from their followers from the death of this person. I truly hope this person remains healthy for this reason alone.

Who is the injured party? A person? A group? Everyone except me?

The response from the AR community suggests the citizen is attracted to those who are neutral. That does not align with the tribalism of current culture.

Did this guy show poor judgment? That is clearly true.

Have not real estate agents on Active Rain said many times that those who behave badly in the business will be naturally purged? Naturally purged apparently means throwing others under the bus.

I think what we are witnessing is real estate agents behaving just as the citizen at large......reacting due to their fragility.

I have often employed agitation even absurdity to solicit responses. Somethings knowingly presenting a situation that is clearly wrong.  However, the goal is always achieved, even if participants were unaware.

So, those who calmly, compassionately and clearly extended the hand of understanding and reconciliation are to be awarded, NOT those who believe a tribal response of 'kill the enemy by throwing them under the bus."

In my opinion, the line is blurred between this outspoken individual and the devious retaliater.

"Blessed are the peace makers and they shall be called sons of God."

Clearly peace making is a calling higher than we know.
