You must pass a 63 hour course to get your real estate salesperson license in Florida. Then a 45 hour class within 24 months to keep that license.
To become a Broker, after you worked two years as an agent (and completed the previously mentioned courses), you must pass a 72 hour broker pre-license course. To keep that broker license, you have to take and pass yet another 60 hour course within 24 months.
Once you get all that behind you, it's a piece of cake to stay in business. 14 hours every two years, it can be taken online.
For more details, see this real estate school's website .

The attorneys won the arguement & the other guys followed.
Doctors were asleep with their 36 hr shifts & missed the court date. Interns are very tired folk.
I do not know the mysteries of life Richie. You are much better than I figuring that stuff out. I don't believe that realtors should be shadowed or have a sponsor.

Well actually in real estate it is in Georgia. You have to work FOR a qualifying broker for three years prior to obtaining a broker's license and practicing on your own. For that three years the broker has a legal duty to review every single listing and contract.

Some fields are more involved than others. Lawyers have to go through extensive training and pass a serious exam to be able to practice. Many intern along the way at law offices. The law and the workings of the human body are for more intricate than selling a car, putting in sprinklers or even selling a home.
We in Cali have a 60 something hour course and an exam and then must work under a broker who allegedly has the duty to supervise. Brokers have another set of courses, another exam and 2 years of full time production in order to become a Broker.

Good point Richie Alan Naggar. It takes 120-hours of pre- licensing courses at an approved Utah real estate school to practice. I find it interesting how many attorney's, CPA's and Phd's have worked in real estate and their prior/current chosen careers do not necessarily make them excellent Realtors!

If years of service/training was an indicator of proficiency, all those incumbents in DC would be part of a finely tuned, highly effective government.
Artists of all kinds take 10 years to learn their craft (proficient) and 20 year to perfect it (create). Are they professionals?
I guess what you are saying Richie is real estate agents, brokers and REALTORS should not be classified as professionals. zDevil would agree and has stated agents should be paid $2,500 per transaction and agents should simply process the order. And the way agents are supporting zDevil, they must be in agreement.

Great question! My first, pre-coffee thought? Because "they" wouldn't make as much money as simply accepting any & all with the low barrier of entry that attracts so many (looks like I'm in for a cynical Tuesday!)... Kudos to the consumer who knows this & interviews more than one agent for what will probably be the biggest purchase/sale of their lifetime.

In North Dakota beauticians have to have two years of training and then do an apprenticeship before they can practice and give $12.00 hair cuts. Realtors, 60 hours and then they can handle million dollar sales. Something is out of whack Richie Alan Naggar .

Well, there are dorky doctors, God knows tons of them. Dorky attorneys, everywhere you go there they are. Trainwreck hairdressers and they get a lot of education and training too. Insane appraisers and look how much training they got. The market and consumers should ultimately determine who stays and goes. I realize that is not always the case but it's not the case in politics either. LOL, did I cover everything?
God Bless America.

It would be great if all professions had a standard test of ability prior to working for or with the public. It us ridiculous that a newly licensed Realtor is listing or selling homes that affect legal ramifications without the knowledge needed. I can't believe that more companies and brokers don't get in major legal trouble for allowing this to occur.

The lawyers usually have to pass the state bar exam...not a small issue. They also have CE classes.
