Wow Lise Howe! Scanning, wiring and emailing are still viable, virtual options. There were a few people from St. George who were on a cruise line that held infected people. A woman did get it and was taken to a Japanese hospital while her husband was taken to Texas to be quarantined.

Can't documents be sent in and out?  

    Getting a non-revocable POA to deed away real estate can be tough here in Florida.  Definitely have an attorney draw it up; the same attorney who will be closing the sale.

I have not been affected by a buyer or seller yet and i hope not to be. We have a steady flow of chinese buyers in our area. 

Out here in Cali, docusign can be used for everything except the grant deed and one or two other papers.  To notarize, usually you need to go to a US embassy or consulate, when in a foreign country (or so I've heard).

None of my clients have ANY desire to hop on a plane for a 40 minute flight, let alone a long distance one.  I know my vacation plans have been cancelled and I'm refreshing my disaster supplies.

I had buyers who couldn't make it due to unforseen scheduling (it happens when working with military and oil field workers) but I don't ever remember it being a problem to reschedule. There never seemed to be any grumbling on either end but maybe that's just the North Dakota way  Lise Howe 

I didn't see the article but "news" of the Coronavirus seems to be making lots of "news" in our world which is seemingly ever-dependent on filler.  Definitely noteworthy but so many things are likely not reported(or under-reported).  

EVERYONE e-signs these days - the only thing requiring notarization is the deed around here - even the banks e-sign and you can do it on your phone. So this should largely be a non-issue but folks who know they are gonna be traveling should be making preparations. 

Business should be as usual, unless someone is so ill that they lack capacity perhaps.

I hadn't seen the article so thanks. It does make you think about the implications of quarantines, timing, and related matters.

I will look this week to stock pile N95 type surgical masks.  It is not going to affect North America it is how soon we will contract to this men made SAR modified virus. Nephew is a RNA mathmatician I am sure he is similating it writing his research papers/

If they were going to out of the country during the process I would certainly suggest they establish a PoA

Sellers sign remotely all the time. Why does it matter where they happen to be?

If they are traveling abroad, you bet I'm suggesting they have a POA in the event one or both are quarantined or travel delays/restrictions are imparted upon them. 

In our business, we ALWAYS need to be on our toes with a Plan-B!

We have a large foreign born population in the San Francisco Bay Area. I would not be surprised to see the horrible virus have an effect on our market in either narrow or broad ways.

For instance, the impact on the stock market could reduce the cash available for a down payment.
