A mullion (Pronounced "Moo Lie On") is a ferocious animal native to Africa, and emits a bovine-like sound.

This can be confused with a muntin lion.

Home is where the hearth is.

Mullions are the vertical dividers between window panes.

Double mullions would mean three panes?

The vertical (or horizontal) 'beam' (or divider) between two windows or doors. If you have 2 of them, you'd have 3 windows.

Mullions are what make my out of towners ask "is this neighborhood safe?"

Meanwhile we're in $800K-$1.3 M homes.

Barbara,

That is a definite concern of retailers, no mullions for those large windows to show off their stuff.  We had to go find someone in Japan that did mullionless windows, and then have the Beverly Hills Fire Department approval...Mullions hold two pieces of glass, and double mullion allow opening both.  We did that in office the building we represented for an Oscar Winner movie star...he hated mullions...LOL A

Isn't is a vetical (or other direction?) bar in a window?

I have to agree with Michael Jacobs . Between the 2 of you there was some good learning about architecture and building homes.

Bar decoration in a window. Depending on the size of the window obviously ?? divided in squares. Can't say I've heard of the double feature.
