That's pretty bizarre. It almost looks like it was grafted into the valve instead of growing out of the valve.

Now that is pretty amazing!!!  Reminds me of a cartoon I once saw.  This dog was being chased by other dogs in NYC.  He rounds a corner into a dead-end and we all think he's a gonner.  He picks up a book that was on the ground to shield himself from the punches of the other dogs, only to see them running away.  Turns out the name of the book was... "A tree grows in Brooklyn".  Guess they all wanted to go and "water" that tree.
