Thirty miles! Very easy! I moved to NC from Atlanta. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the worst traffic day in a city that has some of the worst traffic in the USA!!

Nope and nope.  I'm in the same boat as Nina Hollander, when I travel it's on the off season when there are fewer people traveling.  I'd usually get into conventions a day early and leave a day or two after it was over.  Vacations, I go during the school year.

I went down to Eugene yesterday to pick up our youngest from school, about 7 hours roundtrip. It would have been his first Thanksgiving away from home since he was born. We surprised my wife by having him home for the holiday. Traffic was not bad except in a few places. I also got the chance to see my sister/brother-in-law for dinner before heading back.  I remember some Thanksgiving where I needed significantly more patience.
