Our office has "open house" for three weeks of December when we invite past clients to stop by for coffee or hot apple cider and snacks and give them a small gift. It's usually about 300 or so people that pop in during that three weeks. And we always have some branded items that we give them.

"Past" clients may be clients for life or merely a one-time opportunity. The exchange of "things" can happen seasonally, for special occasions and sometimes in many ways. Meaningful and perhaps easy-to-forget.

Some of them will receive a Christmas wreath delivered fresh from the farm right after Thanksgiving. It serves a second purpose as this is a fundraiser for my Rotary Club.

My personal agent just sends an email for Christmas. This November and last he has sent a mailer with pie options from Costco. You let him know the flavor and then pick it up the Tuesday before Thanksgiving in his office. Clever as it gets him in front of you twice - and for sure once in person and he has us coming to him. The pies are $5.99 at Costco but it feels like a big gesture. I was out of town last year and will pick on up from him this year - even though I still have to get other items at Costco.

I'll send a card. There was a few years I'd send tins of cookies to the people who purchased during the year. There were very few people who even acknowledges receiving them. I decided a card will suffice. I just got the final draft of my Christmas card and will be ordering them soon.
