Oh wow... I'd like to know more but your link does not work. I'm with Dan Pittsenbarger ... will they pay to not move to the area in the first place? I left SF in 1976... if I'd only known... I might have waited to move!

Well this is an interesting idea John.  It doesn't surprise me either. I know many tech orientated people that work from their home office. There is another city in the midwest that paid people to move there and I do believe it's very successful as well.

No surprise - I'm one of those who could buy a home here but refuses to - traffic, insanely over-inflated home prices, insanely high crime rates (property crime and theft is all but ignored by police), and taxes on top of taxes on top of taxes.  Working remotely sounds extremely appealing.

Always amazed at the CA bashing Thomas. By year's end, 1 in 8 of total U.S. population will live in the state, and if it were it's own country, would have the 5th largest economy in the world. I get it, the diverse lifestyle is not a fit for everyone, and the continued growth creates real problems that need to be solved. Despite that, millions and millions of people continue find it a very attractive and dynamic place to work and live.

I am a native Californian, born at Stanford, much of my father's side of my family lives in California. I love the weather, hate the taxes. Love the area, hate the left leaning politics that drown out the conservatives, they do live there too. 

I will never be able to live there again but I do go and visit and stay in San Francisco and Sunnyvale.  

My parents both went to Stanford and my mother got her PHD there and was a professor there. My son wants to play baseball for Stanford, great athletic programs and high achievers on endownment sliding scale tuitions, amazing opportunities. 

But what I will never understand is those that leave California because of high taxes, high prices on housing , and insane regulations - only to bring it  to the areas they leave to- like Colorado, Seattle Washington, Oregon... and now moving into Utah--- and Idaho!!  That kind of mentality is beyond comprehension.
