Living in a rural State who's #1 industry is agriculture I think this is the repeal of one of the worst, most over bearing power grabs of all time in USA government history Donald Urschalitz . What do those involved in agriculture think? If you check out the National Farmers Union website you will see they are on the same page as I am and we are nearly never on the same page.

Any human effect that negatively impacts the environment should be stopped in my opinion and that includes over-development of residential areas.

Why is NAR taking part in that discussion? Does it directly involve housing? NO

Now we are the advocates for all rivers, all fields, tell farmers what to do .... interesting. They are spending my dues how?

Here's my thoughts on this, though it may be a different location/situation. Environmentalists were wrong in Brian Head, Utah to refuse the cutting of dead trees and thinning out brush in heavily forested areas because they wanted it all to be 'protected'. The careless act of one person caused a raging inferno that lasted long enough for hundreds of people to lose their homes with animals racing for their lives, burned alive or displaced because of it. Being proactive has so many advantages and updating outdated ideas is necessary for the protection of all of us, including farmers!

I think Bob "RealMan" Timm has a great answer.  Those who don't live in rural areas don't understand how government regulations impact people who have to adhere to the rules.  I live in a state where our national forests were shut down from logging due to government regulations - and now they burn and are much more unhealthy than they were when they were logged - not to mention the loss of jobs.  The government may have the best intentions, but don't fully think through the results.

Donald,

It is hard to give an opinion based on what I know, which is very lttle. And one article is not enough to learn the whole story.  As Richie Alan Naggar we get a smidgen of the issues and those are usually colored by someone's opinion and agenda.  And like Lyn Sims expressed why is NAR involved?

What goes on high-up we are not privy to... only the bits & pieces that filter down. Anytime a President does or does not do something be assured something powerful and necessary is going on. One thing we do know specifically: Trump is a businessman& Obama was not. That alone tells much

My gut is that anything that removes the government from our lives is good but, honestly, I don't know enough about the issue to make an educated statement...

...well, other than to ask why NAR is even remotely involved in this? Support it or not, don't they have bigger fish to fry? More important issues at-hand?

Government overreach is never the answer. See Wanda's answer for an example of unintended consequences. This is a big country. Respect for the environment needs to be kept localized and managed by municipalities and regions, not the federal government. And NAR rarely speaks for me.

I'm sure there are valid points in both sides of the discussion. But in the end, some big corporations will put the mighty dollar ahead of public health. They've done it before, they'll do it again.

it didn't HARM DEVELOPERS... it reduced the number of buildable lots....i.e., in MA we must stay 200' away from streams, brooks, bodies of water.... and that's reasonable....

to pollute bodies of water is sinful.... the NAR Sucks....that's how I feel....

This is a very bad thing. We are going back to the 50’s era but this time there is no going back. Trump is undoing everything that Obama did, just because he’s Obama. Water and Oxygen are two things that is important to life, and Trump is destroying them both. There is only one way to stop it and that will come in November 2020

Who doesn't want to buy some lake-shore property with a bit of sewage and other pollution in it?

I suspect that the farmers are more concerned with impending bankruptcy from the other policies and are not caring much about this.

It is amzazing how some people on this thread would like to see more government regulation. The government is rarely the answer. The private sector can usually work things out. The government here in CO is going to destroy our state's economy. Our housing market is going to suffer due to the overreaching our govoner. He is a nightmare for anyone that actually has a job. So for anyone that says "government can solve all our problems' you are in the wrong business if you are a real estate agent.

There is a thin line between protection and over kill. I do believe there is a way to protect water and allow farmers to farm, builders to build and people to use THEIR land. I think it is more State to State then federal though. What affects me here in NH may be different than the midwest. Florida or Cali. Let the states do what is right based on fact, not blanket over kill

Here in the Tampa Bay region, the gov'mt leaders are dumping waste water into the aquifer, where no one can see and they can operate in secrecy. As least when the dumped sewerage in the bay, we ALL knew something didn't smell right.

Tampa is going to force toilet to tap on the citizens....perhaps to come up with a aquifer dump as a negotiated compromise.

It really doesn't matter what a citizen thinks, the leaders are hell bent on creating a non-inhabitable earth, by their repeated 'Kick the can down the road' behavior.

I had one opinion, then you mentioned NAR is supporting it. NAR has done NOTHING beneficial for me as a citizen or agent.

NAR don't care who gets behind them & who doesn't. They do what works for NAR. As far as agents go, just send your check in or you'll lose your MLS access.
