Hello Caroline - whether I care or not, it seems as if the cat is out of the bag.  Unfortunately my opinion appears to matter little in the grand scheme.  Collectively, does it matter more?  Hmm, I wonder.  It seems privacy and carefree policies of all kinds have run amok.

Well great - kiss privacy goodbye  and along with that there is no consequences for harming others. 1/2 of us got breached.  Seriously....who's minding the shop?

It makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever that there are no ramifications for their breach - NONE. Why?

As long as mega corps run the government, they will be safe.  Drain the swamp, get rid of lobbyists and put term limits into place for all elected officials, then we'll see some change!

Consumers need to be given a clear control choice on whether their personal financial data is collected and controlled by these companies. "Locking" Credit Reports is no sufficient

Just answering on the stock price part, I think that's because the markets react to news about earnings & in this case they made money by not having to pay-out, so their stock should do better, not worse. Albeit they made money screwing the victims of the data breach but that's how it translates. 

Yes but there isn't much of an option in my area. My corner of the world is locked up by them. No one it seems is made accountable.

So far it turns out the hacked Equifax data has not been released publically or sold on the deep web. Because of this it is beleived to be from a state actor. There stock is solid because they have still been allowed to operate (due to banks & financial insitutions relying on them too much. Knowing someone's credit is necessary if you want to make money lending and no alternative has been made yet). One great way to check if you have been hacked or your information has been leaked (It probably has) and from where I suggest: https://haveibeenpwned.com/ 

The website will tell you if your email address has been involved in a databreach and which databreaches it was from. You can also check to see if any of your passwords have been breached on the site (3/5 of the passwords I used regularly myself had been breached). If your password has been leaked then I suggest changing it as hackers collect massive databases of billions email and password combinations that they use to hack into your account. Once a password is in the public database then you should probably change it.

Like a bunch of naive kids, we have all WILLINGLY allowed the pursuit of convenience to compromise any illusion of privacy. 5G will actually make a mockery of the suggestion that what occurs in the privacy of our homes is protected.

Do you use any service to monitor where you information is being breached? I use FIREFOX. The only protection that exits is via use of an ALIAS. YEP, the violates the TOU, but no one is looking after me and you.

If you opt for the "up to $125" per victim you have succumbed to a false reality.

No one is holding them accountable. 

EFX falls into the "too big to fail" category in my opinion. They (and TU/XPN) have etched themselves so firmly into the system, they are seemingly untouchable. I wish it wasn't the case.

I can see a big hit on their stock real soon.
