Bob - you know as I think back, I don't recall ever writing a "letter to the editor" although I have a certain fondness for newsprint and the "physicalness" of newsprint. Interesting question.

No I have not. However, it's interesting you would ask this question. A friend recently wrote a letter to our most recent defeated candidate for AZ Senate. This candidate clear across our state indicated that she was in favor of mass killing of our burro population. Most of us want them simply sterilized to control their growth. My friend told her basically that she had no business opining on what was going on so far away from her area as our burros are beloved and a part of our culture. That candidate is going to be in town on Wednesday at a local restaurant to speak. Teach   Bruce Walter  will get a giggle out of this. I'm glad that pink tutu defeated her. She still needs a stylist. Eek.

Yes, I've written letters to the editor.  Over the years, I've probably had about ten published.

Yes, one time quite a few years ago. It was about adding street lights to the SR which is our main road through town.  Big controversy because Sedona is a dark sky city.  It was close to 50-50 but the street lights won out.  after they were put in, they did not impact the dark sky at all. They were dark sky approved and bell-shaped.  Thumbs up! ( I was against them initially)

people DO read the newspaper.... baby boomers read the newspaper.... they have property to sell and active adult community condos to buy....

I find that, when I used to subscribe to a newspaper, that most of the letters to the editor were complaints. I like the idea of the cheerleader aspect of your letters.

I have not.  Primarily because I associate them with negativity as all the ones I've seen have been against something or argumentative.  Just look at any of the ones in Car & Driver, for example.

It hasn't happened in a very long time though - probably not since the mid-2000's. Hubby is the only one who reads the paper in my house any more - I get my news online - often the day before he reads the ink version! LOL
