John DL Arendsen I used to live in NO when I attended Tulane back in the late 60's. I recommend any place on St. Charles andf take the trolley downtown as you like. It is very scenic and a lot more quiet.

There are some real nice places to stay in the french quarter. We stayed at hotel saint marie which is a converted warehouse right in the middle of everything. a mixture of new and old.
