No... I got mine over a year ago. Made an appointment at DMV, walked in and walked out 10 minutes later... new license received in a week by mail.

If you can not prove you are legal and have proper documentation perhaps you will not be ready. I see a man showing me an expired Mexican driver license from 2011 and wonder how he can get around? Real estate VP broker with no driver license driving people around showing homes.

I had no issues renewing my CDL.  Scheduled an appointment online. Waited maybe 10 minutes. Took the eye exam, paid the fee and I was on my way.

I renewed in the last year. They gave us the option of keeping our current license or "upgrading" to the new ones. I guess it's different from state to state.

I have not gotten mine yet, nor do I have any plans to do so anytime soon.  When I fly, it's usually international and all I need then is my passport.  I can still use the passport for domestic flights, so not a concern here either.  My CCW had more address and identity verification than the Real ID does, so that's still the only ID I need to show for buying guns.

It's not complicated if you bring ALL the reuired documents, which means digging up your actual Social Security card (!!!), two government-issued id's and two proofs of residence (eg recent bank or utility bills) plus you have to be present for a new photo. The Federal licenses are not mandatory, you can get a "regular" one with minimal documentation, but will not be able to use it when flying as of October 2020 (that date keeps getting pushed back).

I have my new Real I.D. Piece of cake!

I have heard horror stories about others who have been frustrated, after waiting in long lines, being turned away for lack of the proper documentation.

I made an appointment well ahead of time and I read on the on-line instructions before showing up for my appointment.

Admittedly, my situation is not as complicated as someone who recently moves, lacks a passport or certified birth certificate. lack legal proof of name change such as certified marriage certificate or divorce papers.

I know one individual who got turned away because the lease to her rental - she recently sold her home - is in the name of Pat and her identification is in the name of Patricia!

I've heard that it is taking hours to get the real id. I'm doing a walk through in a rural area tomorrow. I made an appointment with their DMV to renew my license and get my real id.
