The Yellow Pages used to be a consistent go-to book as was the Sears Wish Book. Finding people's likes and interests can reveal much.

I never read fiction, and mostly consume audio format these days. My fav. are usually famous people biography and autobiography. Sometimes, poetry. p.s. Just a minute ago someone on fb recommended me a book about Gucci family.

For me this is an easy answer, Nick. At this stage of my life I no longer read business books or self-development books. Haven't heard anything new in ages. I read fiction to escape and I don't have any one book, I'd recommend... I have lots of favorite authors (and they probably are more of a girl thing, in any event). And usually, my favorite book is the one I'm reading at the moment.
But if you're looking for a good business/self-development recommendation, check out Bob Burg's "Endless Referrals." Best book I ever read on this topic.

So far in the month of January, I have read:
Dare To Lead (Brene Brown)
The Man on the Mountain (Susan Trott)
Recession Proof Graduate (Charlie Hoehn)
Atomic Marriage (Curtis Sittenfeld)
In Pieces (Sally Field)
Of the above list, if I had to choose One to recommend, it would be Dare to Lead.

Fiction - The Kent Family Chronicles by John Jakes. It is actually a series of eight books and I could not put it down. Also his North and South trilogy but that is best read after the Kent Family Chronicles.
Non-Ficton - My Personal Best by John Wooden is his autobiography and a good read.

Nick,
Between the two of us, we keep Amazon happy when it comes to books...I have like the unabridged version of Think and Grow Rich, we like Jim Collins Good to Great! I think those two fit self develoment and business. I like Carlos Casteneda, The Teachings of Don Juan. Fiction, I like mysteries set in different countries. I am reading one set in France's wine country... We read a lot. I think I go through one book a week. A

So many in each category. How does one choose a favorite child? Here are some of my favorites:
Fiction: The Testament by John Grisham
Non-fiction: A Walk Across America
Business: Mindmapping
Self-Development: How to Win Friends & Influence People
Truth is, I read so many business books in my working days that my brain got tired. I'm mostly into Fiction and inspirational reads these days.
