In my market that is not a reality, since the average entry level home is around $800k and the average entry level condo is around $650k... most renters lack the Down payment to be able to buy a home. What market are you in? Endre

I would say at a moderate level, but nearly all have little to no savings. Just this week though i was able to get a renter pre qualifed for fha, they now have their dream home under contract

A high-level conversion in most markets would concern me.

I've always believed that not everyone should be a homeowner.

OTOH, interest rates will go up so perhaps renters w credit and money could be enlightened that if they're going to do it, now might be the time.

I agree with everybody that no doubt has said most are renters because they can't buy, not because they don't want to.

Having said that, I deal w commercial leases and people w funds to make a purchase are seeing rents go up. They must have longevity in their business in order to qualify, usually for SBA but if they can (once government is back up and running), it could be a good move to acquire if the stars align and the figures makes sense.

Fortunately, I'm good at determining both of those things. 🎱🎯💰📒

Not sure I understand what convert at a high level means. I've sold homes to many buyers who were renters for various reasons. Next week will be working with a former client whose home I sold when he relocated and he's been renting since. Now that he's relocating back to Charlotte he'll be buying again.

WE own a property management company, so yes, I frequently have tenants who become buyers.  Typically, they are on the lower end of the spectrum, but sometimes, people relocaating want to rent for a while to check out areas and then buy.  My last 3 clients were tenant-buyers.

Not at a high level.   But these are people we should focus on.  All want the American Dream of owning but just don't know the loan options out there.

I like to think I focus  on advertising to these people to get them in a home.
