You may run into a problem on occasion but most likely NOT because the businesses that would call you most likely have already established a relationship with you. That being said I'm not an attorney. 

No idea but checking if others are in "the know". It seems spam is all around us.  Some things are a bigger concern so I tend not to sweat the "small" stuff.

I find the do not call list to be an affront to all businesses since it punishes legitimate businesses and rewards politicians, fake charities, and other scammers who ignore it and are unreachable.

This list should be abolished.

I believe I heard that as well, Nathan. We have had previous home and my husband's cell number on the list and it doesn't help...at all! 

According to the Telecommunications Decency Act, any spam calls to cell phones are illegal in the first place.  Mine has been on it since the list was created.

Yes - but it likely won't do a damn bit of good.  Simply because it seems many people don't give a crap about the do not call - and they call, and robo-call, and spam call from fake numbers, and the list goes on and on.

I haven't checked lately but I believe so. My cell is my only phone number.

Yes (you can put your personal cell that you also use for business on the DNC list) & No (as in, you are not immune from legal business solicitations or DNC exempt personal solicitations), business numbers are not subject to the DNC list. If you advertise the number as a business, it is considered a business number, even if it rings on a personal cell phone. If you receive an unwanted personal solicitation, unrelated to your business, you may go after them.

I don't know if there is anything to stop you from putting your phone on the DNC list, but what good is doing so anyway? You're likely using your phone number in advertising so it's free to be used.

Not so long ago, telemarketers weren't supposed to call cell numbers either. Seems nothing is enforced so here we are...

I simply don't answer if you don't recognize the number.

          I didn't find anything on the Federal Do Not Call Registry Website that prevents you.  Maybe somewhere in the super fine print.  

One phone, one number... I answer all calls and then mark them as SPAM and blocked as needed.

The DNC List is a joke and the spammers know it.

I put mine on the list. Now my interpretation is the only businesses that can call are those with existing relationships or from an inquiry i made. HOWEVER i am completely buried in spam calls from those looing to put me in the #1 spot on Google. Those who want to gove me leads for the low price of $12,000 month or those who want to sell me an auto warranty

Who checks the do not call registry?

Mine is on the DNC. I think the list is a source for robo callers. There are so many exceptions to paying the fine, it is a joke! And, most don't report!

I do not see what the use of the phone has to do with the DNC Registry. I have mine on there, but do telemarketers really follow and abide by the law...no. Put it in there and it will as least honest crooks, honest.

You CAN put the number on the DNC list.

However, the business use element means any caller can claim they placed a legitimate call, for business purposes, to that number. Business purposes is a really broad brush.

I know, you want to have you cake and eat it too, but you very own behavior undermines your cake consumption. Want it in writing, call your attorney.

He/she will advise you, once a number is published, all protections are lost.

The DNC registry used to be great, now, it is what it is.

Whether or not it is possible, I respond the I am on the Do Not Call list and politely ask to be taken off their call list and ring off
