Fred, there are many variables as each township in the county has a different tax rate as well as the two cities and the three different school corporations.
There is a 1% cap on residential structures of the assessed value but not that many homes ever are limited by the cap. The most common deductions are the homestead ($45,000) and Mortgage ($3,000) deductions off the assessed value.
People moving to our area find Tippecanoe County has very low taxes for housing a world class university and the #1 or 2 school district in the state. As an example we live in a 3,200 sq ft home with full unfinished basement, 3 car attached garage, two decks, lot is on a pond, updated interior and the taxes are below $2,900 for the year.

Since I work in two states and half a dozen counties, reporting on tax rates would take forever. No annual caps. In NC we have very few options for exemptions.

MECKLENBURG (Charlotte) COUNTY - .8232 per $100. + City taxes .3368, or total of 1.164% - so, a $250K home would be taxed at approximately $2,910/year.
YORK (Fort Mill, SC) COUNTY - 0.632 or $1,580/year for a home valued at approximately $250K.
EXEMPTIONS: In NC, yes to Veteran, disabled or over-age 65 categories but, there is a maximum income that allows for the 50% deduction. No Homestead in NC...which is why a large number of my over-65 buyers elect to move to Fort Mill, SC where they do offer the Homestead Exemption and the qualifying income is less than the over-65 general exemption in NC.
As with many states who do have the Homestead Exemption, you must apply for it at the county tax office. *In SC, you HAVE to visit the tax office, regardless of your age. SC taxes default to a second-home rate and you must present proper documentation in person in order to have the 'investor rate' removed.
