Vantage Score started in 2006 as a competitor for FICO (from the 3 credit cops) it has not recieved mortgage acceptance, yet. It is offered to consumers for free. Mortgage credit reports use more than FICO. Although we use the lowest middle FICO we also look at all the lines (for example student loans) and analyze for payments. Other tools are also used to check for BK/ foreclosure/ modifications/ divorce... full on snoop

Rarely deal with with people who have issues with credit. I send them to Credit Repair people. In our area 25-30% downpayment is often expected.

Dont know much about the difference, but I am not a fan of using these as the sole determinant.  They do nothing to judge the character of the borrower.

This whole change was supposed to help consumers push against these monopolies & NOTHING has changed. How depressing. I really do not get into it with clients unless they ask.

My score dropped 50 points just last week for no reason (I have Credit Karma) & with no changes. It's just a game.

Never even heard of Vantage Score, Fred.  I've not heard of any lending related institution using anything but FICO scores.
