The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

We JUST got rid of ours and I hate not having it!

My hubby turns his ringer on silent at night and then forgets to turn it on. If he's not looking at his phone, he doesn't catch my calls when I'm out! He ALWAYS answered the home phone because we had a phone in every room! Yes, I miss my home phone!

We got rid of ours at least 5 years ago.  My parents still have theirs - but they are 91 and 89 and have no idea how to handle modern technology.  How I wish we still had "dumb" TVs for them as I have had to run to their home many, many times to help get their movies going and then get the television back to regular viewing.

We still have one. I run our DSL internet and fax through it. Mostly use cell phones for basic calling and texting. And, if a cell tower goes down, which they do now and then, and we lose cell service, land line comes in handy.

I plan on switching to satellite internet soon from a company in Frederick MD, and get rid of the DSL, but we'll probably still keep a landline.

I have a land line & I am not ready to cut the cord yet. For one, it's good when your cell phones not cooperating. Also I work with a lot of people that still use a fax to send me things. When I work on short sales (which I do quite often) larger institutions like Wells Fargo & many Servicers require documents faxed in. I do however block incoming calls on my land line. All calls come to my cell.

Not me.  If you can't reach me on my cell phone I don't want to be found.

In answer to your question, I'd say less than 50% of households have a landline... and it continues to dwindle.

We still have the "land line" phone although we learned it is no longer a true land line like they used to be, routed through computer modem now. Tried to get rid of it and the cable company told us we wouldn't be able to get some of our channels, I think it's a ruse.

I wish I still had the old POTS land line that'll work in a power failure.  I have a VoIP landline as do my parents and a few other people I know.  Sometimes cell phone reception is bad, but most importantly if you're in need of emergency services, they won't be able to find you on your cell phone without a lot of work and there is no guarantee they'll get accurate coordinates.  A land line immediately tells them your address.
