Much has been learned through trial and error. People go to restaurants to eat, not find the best agent in the area, same as grocery cart ads, people's kids will be sitting on your face! Much of the hype from salespeople on the next greatest tech gadget or sales tool is just static for me unless it is proven. I continue to do what works for me,  nurturing and remaining in front of past clients is golden.

I think at Candice A. Donofrio said it perfectly.  You have to develop a practice of "critical thinking" in your decision making whether something is good advice or bad advice.  Secondly, you have to know what will work for you personally and your market place.

For instance, I have read scathing remarks from members about print ads, and borderline insults for wasting money".  It may be true in many market places, but it is no true here in Santa Barbara and its environs.  It is also not true in parts of Florida when we have clients, or Colorado, or Napa, and other places we have worked in...so that is good advice for some markets and terrible advice for other places.  Everything needs to be thought about, and researched.  A

I tend to listen to agents that have a proven record and you can see them effectively marketing and that is where the rubber meets the road.  I like to pay attention and learn, I do attend functions to listen to guest speakers that our company provides, always open to learning, it might be just one thing that you come away with that can make a difference.
