Wildfire is not an issue where I live. So glad! I have friends and family who have been evacuated within the last year and one who lost her home to the Santa Rosa fire last year.

Yes.  Our one project in a brush clearance zone has had the appropriate steps taken and brush cleared.

Living in Northern Virginia metro area there really aren't many risks of wild fires here

       The Eastpoint Florida fire last month.

       The State of Florida did a "controlled burn" (legalized pyromania) in the National Forest.  That fire got out of control.   3 dozen houses destroyed!

      Eastpoint, Florida is 75 miles west of here.

I cannot even think about fires ... so depressing what's happening in Redding right now. 

Summer fires are an issue every year in my area.  We are trying to educate the public but, unfortunately, you can't fix stupid... and they keep starting fires with illegal fireworks and by throwing unextinquished cigarettes out of vehicle windows.. amonth other things. We also get a lot of heat lightning here in the summer and that doesn't help.  

Good advice... but I have no need to prepared for wildfires... plenty of rain here and no forests nearby.

I know of so many people that need help in cleaning around their home.

We have had several fires in CO, but luckily now we are seeing a bit of rain.  Sending prayers for Ca.

We're fortunate to not live in an immediate wildfire area here in UTC/La Jolla-but it's close by and we have many friends and clients that do. As a Cali native, earthquakes and wildfires have been a part of life here, so we tend to treat them as "seasonal-normal" and are prepared as best one can be until one is thrown into the middle of it. Thank you to your family for their service in the fire dept.

Caroline, I have a client whose home I'm selling in VA. She lives in CA. She sent me a note yesterday that they were being evacuted from their CA home. The fires were nearly 200 yards away. I can't imagine the stress. 

I have a large buffer around my home.

Having spent some time in the Redding area representing a large tree farm, most in the area are unprepared and I am not sure how they could prepare.

When the Sierra Club compelled the stockpiling of firewood, it has become apparent there are no precautions one can take for the inferno that results.

The right response is REMOVE THE STANDING FUEL, like was done before 1970, then when drought and fire mix the resulting fire may not be the beast firefighters  die in their fight today.

These Sierra Club fires will live in infamy.

We are not prepared for wildfire - it's not really a concern where we live - but I hope everyone in susceptible areas are aware of this.

have I done any of the things you suggest... no.  Am I in worry of wildfires in my area, no.  We're very "wet" most of the time and our forestry does controlled burns to burn the underbrush to help in preventing have fuel for wildfires.  Very rare to have them in my state and even more rare in my part of the the state.

We live in fear of wild fires here is Southern California for about 7 months per year.  

We're okay but have a 16 acre natural area close by which leaves some concern. This is our wet season and the State does well with prescribed fires. Last year they covered 76,000 acres in 68 parks and managed 390 controlled burns. This year 87,000 acres are slated for prescribed fires. It all depends on the anticipated hurricane activity and expected dryness formula. We always hope they figure it out correctly. We have observed it go awry previously. Thank you for the undercut information too, great to know! 

We have had more rain this year than I remember in years and wildfires are not a problem. I am sad for parts of the country that have been inundated with them.

Some ecosystems are designed to have fire go through them periodically, best to not build you home there.

We just drove up to the wine country on 154, and they were cutting down all kinds of vegetation.  And when we lived in Los Angeles, we used to get that notice and followed through, as well as mowing our fields every summer.  A

I am happy it is not an issue here in NH. Even in moderate drought, we still have ample water. 

Caroline Gerardo if I trim 250 feet I'd have a lot of happy neighbors as our City lots are only 50' wide.
