Can't say it's any worse. I'm just glad to get a call back! If I just missed the call I call right back - sometimes the message is still in process!

I do that, especially if I'm driving and have limited access to the control of my phone. If I miss a call I can redial the number hands free where going to VM takes steps that violate local law.  

I will 99% of the time listen to the VM before returning the call.

IF I already know why you called, I may hit the redial button. I may interrupt you while you're leaving me a VM to save you time.

But it's just like having the file out before you answer the question so you can answer the question and not waste the other person's time fishing around in the file. It takes a lot less time to do it right in the beginning. So I feel your pain.

It's even worse when an agent hasn't read the MLS listing that they're calling to ask you questions about, that are answered in the listing.

I usually do not listen to voice messages at all. I'll just redial or call/text and bypass the listening to a message.

What do you expect from real estate agents?  We have thousands of unqualified agents.

Not to be flippant... but that's life... it happens all the time and I've learned not to stress over stuff like this.

It makes sense to me that if I'm working with a high quality Realtor that they will call back before listening to the message.  This means that they are not screening their calls to see if it is worth calling back.  This means that they care enough to get back as quickly as possible.

I hate voice mail--TEXT me! What drives me crazy is an agent who calls and says, "Hey Mike, got a question on your next listing on Grace Drive. Give me a call." How about LEAVING THE QUESTION! Because I know what's going to happen. You call back and get THEIR VM! If it's a cell phone I text them and tell them to next time LEAVE me the question.

I say hit dial and get the conversation stated, most certainly if the message if really, really fresh...like a few minutes old.

At this point in life, I'm just grateful for the return call! SOOOO many agents ignore calls from other agents and that is one thing that drives me crazier than them not listening to my vm!!

Oh yes...this is not specific to real estate agents.  More and more people do this (myself included) and it especially happens with younger generations.  takes too much time to listen to a vm message.  text is more efficient and then call to respond if needed.

It happens.  Sometimes, I do it.  I return a missed call and the other party just left the voice message and hasn't come through on my phone.

The other day I saw a call came in while I was on another call, so I just hit redial and they said, "Oh, I left you a v/mail." I do usually listen to them first, but I hadn't even received it yet. Oh well.

Yes, I often call missed calls as soon as I'm free instead of wasting time and listening. We also have often an awful connection, so it is better get directly to the source. 

David Martin (703) 585-4687 - I got to admit - sometimes I get a call while I am another call. After completing the first call, I immediately call the one I missed - mostly without checking the voice message.

I am partially guilty of this. My voicemail is dictated to my email and text, so I read the voicemail before calling.

If a VM message is left, I will listen to it prior to making a call.... Many times there is no need to call after hearing the message.  I also am not returning spam calls.

Yes and to avoid it, I do not answer my phone if they reply "too soon" after I leave the message as I know they didn't listen.

Yet some call back hours later on the missed call not on the message. If they are going to be rude like that, I'm going to have some fun at their expense and I may torture them a bit. But that's strangers, friends I just give some $#!+ and move on.
