I do not use Angies List.  I tried, but the ROI was not there.

    No experience.  Their salespeople used to call me routinely; I told them it wasn't in my budget.

I do have a friend who has tried this and vows they have gotten ZERO leads from Angie's List. 

I do, however, use it for odd jobs. Landscape lighting and pond installation were two that we personally used and we were nothing short of thrilled with the vendors.

I've not used Angie's list. That's both as a buyer nor advertiser.

I had used a "rating" service one time. They were making a big push in our San Francisco Bay area market. It was expensive $700.00 per year but they actually called your client list and quizzed them as to your service. I did it two years because many in my "leads groups" who are in the "trades"  stated it helped their business with many referrals. It didn't translate very well with Real Estate. My fellow "leads" group folks were impressed so it solidified my quality image with them. I got 100% ratings but NO leads. 

We are a full service digital marketing agency servicing real estate and can help with a free consult. Angies List can be effective depending on the vertical but we have found Adwords to be most effective for home services.

I don't see why you would bother, it's for contractors who have to pay. Clients might not know that but I've never heard that it's the place to 'be'.

No, I have not used Angie's list. In general, I avoid paying for leads as they are very often unqualified buyers. Or, they are already working with another agent.
