I am more concerned about the NSA, the CIA, Mossad, and the Deep State. They are the real threat.

I have added a lot of replies to comments here on this page. I also wrote a post about GDPR. I said I would give an update which I will write in the next couple of weeks.
It only concerns you if you get website traffic from EU citizens, which includes the citizens of the EU when they are visiting here in the U.S.
Simple temporary solution: block EU visitors from your websites by blocking their IPs. This you can do easily with Wordpress plugins like WordFence.
Here is the lead counsel at NAR:
“It kind of changes the way the internet used to work,” NAR Senior Counsel Finley Maxson told the Facebook Live audience, noting that website operators will need to proactively ask visitors for permission to collect their data. “Originally, the internet was opt-out. Now companies have to get individuals’ consent to collect their data, and they have to tell them how they’re going to use it.”
The GDPR covers anyone who is a European resident, regardless of citizenship. The penalties for violating the rule are significant: For serious infractions, companies could be fined 20 million euros (or nearly $24.5 million), or 4 percent of their worldwide annual revenue for the prior financial year—whichever is higher.
NAR head legal continues:
Under these new rules, businesses will be responsible for notifying online visitors of their rights, which means most will have to change their websites’ terms of use. Most site administrators have been using what’s known as “implied consent,” but now they’ll have to shift to “affirmative consent.” “It used to be that internet users automatically agreed to the terms of use by simply visiting the website,” Maxson explained. But now sites have to explicitly ask for consent, most often through a pop-up window or “lightbox” feature.
n addition to asking web visitors to actively demonstrate that they agree to your terms of use, Sturrock suggests finding ways to make it easy for EU residents to exercise their new GDPR rights. “Put a web form on your website offering visitors the opportunity to be forgotten,” Sturrock suggested, “or put up an email address where they can contact you.”

The reality is we will do whatever GOOGLE dictates and ICANN may require.
I do hope the USA is compelled to follow EU in their net neutrality laws.

Jerry,
First of all if you read the story from an good source, you will note that this applies to companies with 250 employees. That being said, you should review your privacy policy on your site. And, if you still have concerns talk to an attorney. And a citizen from another can sue you, if they wish. A

I'll have to admit, I'll need to do some research on the new GDPR you were referring... I am totally unfamilure with this. I know there is a big concern on data here in the USA... I think most of our sites are secure, however, if the government can't keep our information safe from hackers, and the credit bureau's etc... can't keep it safe from hackers... I hope they don't look to make examples of the small guys and gals...
It is of concern to me too...
