Paul great question, for the past six or seven years all I do is go and show up for the meetings and periodically meet a Foreign Client who is "old School" and wants to meet me in the office... so to answer it I do not care... but on a side note I am not a big fan of these "open floor plan" concepts. give me cubicles, private offices etc. hope this helps, Endre

The "office" concept whether in real estate or the "real world" has evolved/is evolving --- many of my clients have never been to my bricks/mortar building where I still maintain a presence and where I still go.  That said, I would like to see more client meering/conference rooms or flex spaces that could accommodate those times when those rare meetings need to occur.  Overall...not a big deal for me.

We've got a nice office in downtown Bethel, CT. It's right in the heart of a walkable village. There's a homemade Ice Cream Shop in the back of the building, a huge parking lot that always has spaces and a front porch you can meet with clients on in the summer. Inside, it's a trendy, cool loft. There's an open desk policy but never a lack of desks. We have 2 Conference Spaces. It has all the things an office would need- wifi, a bathroom & even a Kitchen. I almost feel bad that I am rarely there. I am happy to meet my new recruits there though, the office is definitely a plus. (I am not the Broker)

Since I don't go into the office more than once or twice a month and rarely am in there for longer than 10-15 minutes (unless I'm using a conference room to meet a client), I don't care and they need do nothing for me in this regard. We actually moved into new space this past December... it's lovely and our reception area and office admins are lovely, as well. The best part is that it's four doors down from where I get my nails done... so I can often kill two birds with one stone.

Likewise I use to have an office space until our office started charging $$$ a month. With everything automated, I work pretty much from home or on the road.  If a client wants to meet in the office I rent a temporary space.

What should change, offering print services, a shop to purchase real estate merchandise and a productive meeting.

The "office" is wherever you are and more folks work remotely, don't have the standard sticks and bricks wrapped around them. Meet me at the property, we make house calls happening. Today's agents have to reach out and deliver to the buyers and not hide out in the office. Get rid of the water cooler if too much time is spent at that watering hole. Head out and circulate.

That a great question!

Even though 'One thing' questions are always invalid, I will play along anyway.

To improve the WORK ENVIRONMENT?

Well brokers have already chased agents away from the office so "work environment' is directly connected to the space the agent created, in their home or local coffee shop. The broker can say, "Mission accomplished."

In the office whether at home or under the broker banner, it is not the environment that needs improved, but the PURPOSE.

AR are agents or overwhelmingly of the mindset they are doing everything right. So who needs the office?

However, a visionary broker knows that penetrating this screen means disrupting the delusional peace these agents have created.  It takes courage to disturb the peace of a bunch of real estate agents.

But for those who can be inspired, the broker should create the environment that allows 'seeking agents' to confront their fears or what they are running from.  IN so doing the fabric that binds together those of shared purpose become stronger.

I like the environment of working with other agents with whom we can share ideas, answers, and render assistance…etc. Sometimes it is overly noisy but not often. We have private rooms available when needed. We are working among friends.

I work at my office 70% of the time. At home otherwise.
