It's legal right across the river from me in Nevada. And we've been dealing with people too impaired to enter into legal contracts as long as I've been in real estate. I can tell, and they can go sleep it off. Or whatever.

Smoking weed on Maui is a non issue, the police don't care. It's the harder drugs that are the problem. Most of the agents and clients seem to keep to after hours I guess, myself not into being stoned I have better things to do with my life.

Fortunately the newness wears off after a short time and everything goes back to normal. Recreational marijuana has been legal for a couple years here and it’s no big deal anymore except there are a lot of people who are driving while drugged ....t

I'd guess not Jeff Pearl but you never know. I did have a closing once where a fellow said "I'm so F****D up" and the closer made it an abrupt halt. (BTW he was on pain meds that were prescribed).

Definitely not "of sound mind".  But will they actually lawyer up and try to back out of a deal based upon that?

Marijuana is NOT legal in California, Washington or Colorado.  The states CANNOT ENACT A LAW THAT SUPERCEDES FEDERAL LAW.  Regardless of what the druggies vote for, something that is illegal federally will ALWAYS BE ILLEGAL  at the state level.

WTF

You never say "San Fran" nor "Frisco" unless you're mentioning Texas. We natives know you're all ignorant to the insult this slang is, but you never slang our city by the bay....unless you are stoned, then we get it.

Now to answer your question; all Californians are stoned to pay these prices out here, so no, I never worry about them toking up before signing.

It's been legal here for a couple years and I'm not aware of this happening yet.  Like alcohol, if a closing agent suspects the client is impaired they would likely postpone the closing until later.  Signing contracts under the influence may make them invalid.

Not an issue for me. My clients tend to sign their contracts in front of a notary some other place. Or they walk into escrow at a time convenient to them. There is no formal closing time period where everyone sits down and hashes over the paperwork.
