You mean those whipper-snappers? Real estate was a second career for me, as well, after two decades in the corporate world and a brief retirement overseas.. I've run rings around those youngsters for 25 years and will continue to do so.

Yes, of course. Just because someone is younger does not mean they are better by any means. I would give you two pieces of advice, first and foremost put a plan in place. Plan your work schedule and plan your goals. Break them down by yearly, quarterly, monthly and finally weekly. Lastly, decide where you want to spend your time. Focus on a community, a demographic or an area that you feel most confident. Best of luck.

Oh, absolutely! In fact, I think it's best when you start out older - we're wiser and more in-tuned with what it takes to own a business...and run it profitably!
Good luck, Stephen!

I started real estate at 50, and didn't REALLY start (full time) until 52. In the last day, I put in two offers for two different clients, scheduled showings with two more clients for today/tomorrow, etc. Age is not a factor. Energy level, determination, focus, those are the important things.

This is a re-entry industry. I was 42 when I started . . . if you are smart and resourceful, you can always be competitive.
Let's face it, kids are being turned out of colleges these days with fewer brain cells than when they started! LOLLLLLLL!

If you can get around and learn the business ... age should not be a factor.

Close to half of the agents take it as last job. They are on the average 50s and I have seen folks in their 80s still sell homes. Some is they have to others it is a passion.

Of course you will find it very hard to compete with the young'ins.
It very difficult to convince folks a 90 year old can keep up with the demands of real estate like a 35 year old.
Or maybe you meant you are 37 and younger is 35. Then the reality is, there is no difference.
Then there's the other part....who is your ideal client? Folks often prefer those who are like themselves.

ditto what Nina Hollander said, and apply your life experience and younger agents will wish they could compete with you. competence, not age, are the keys to the kingdom.

YES because you have an advantage. Interviewing and managing agents, new, old, young and young at heart i see a pattern. Work ethic is being lost. You can work smarter using old and new school methods but have to work. Being on your phone 24 hours a day is not work but a waste of time in most cases. learning every aspect of real estate and not wanting to start at the top without any experience is a plus too.

Not sure what you consider a little older but if you have solid professional experience under you, you'll most likely zoom past younger agents and stay there. Cheers to your success!

Age has nothing to do with it and if you do it right, you do not compete at all because they don't know your database; only you do.
