I am a multi dimensional person. I am okay with being vulnerable and allowing people to see who I am, what makes me tick, what makes me happy, what I will tolerate, what I will stand up and fight for, as well as my lack of patience for certain things. I'm okay with some people not liking that.

Not good: "Tell me what I want to hear. Otherwise be quiet!"
Good: "Thanks in advance for taking time to answer my question. Even if it's just to acknowledge that you saw it, I appreciate your stopping by."

It's not what you say, it's how you say it.
So if you are asking the right questions, in the right way, you are actually building rapport with the other person. I think of it more like pacing and leading the customer to an educated decision and not necessarily selling.

The way we respond to the questions posted on this forum gives an insight into who we are. Whether the answer is thoughtful, introspective, flip, humorous, critical, sarcastic, complimentary, etc. has to with the question and the manner in which the respondent is interpreting the question.

Well, yes. I'm wondering if this Q has to do with the other Q that got deleted this morning. In fact, while I was typing a comment - poof!
Some people ask the question just hoping to get the answer they want if that is what you are referring to.

I look at these questions as being more of a How do you do experience than any real sharing of info, and I am perfectly fine with the variation of professionalism and social interaction.

I think that anything we write on the Internet should represent us in the light we wish to be represented. Regardless of whether it's an answer to a question, or a post, or a comment on a facebook meme. If we want to be seen as an argumentative, know-it-all, then we should write that way. And if we wish to be seen as classy and professional, then that's the way we should be. And of course the in-between is appropriate as well.

I think it needs to be a good representation of us. Play nice in the sandbox, disagree if appropriate, but with civility. A little baffled that a question I answered last night had apparently been deleted by morning. It's a missed opportunity for social engagement in the community to pull the question.

You can't hide your true self here on AR very long. Read someone's blogs over time, see their comments, and you make a judgment. Interestingly, I've noticed that some came in strong when they first started on AR, and have softened their stance a bit. Others are who they are.

I treat others as I wish to be treated - that goes for my personal life, my business life and includes my social commentary.
There are MANY to whom I would never refer business, because I see them quite often committing social media suicide with their snarky remarks.
Conversely, the social appeal, or lack thereof, can be read between the lines more often than not. That impression keeps readers from making a mistake by hiring those who don't hesitate to be hurtful to others.
Just MHO!
