Divorcing couples are a hairy bear. The best skill and quality is calm even-handedness in the midst of a lot of bad and sad vibes. 
The WORST thing to do is get involved on any level, even if it's clear that one party is being a complete jerk . . . be at your absolute most dispassionate.

Patience and unpartiality are just two things that come to mind.

Letting them know you understand the emotional ride they're on and NOT taking any sides.  Being a good negotiator helps a lot because good negotiators are able to see things from both sides and find common ground in accomplishing everyone's goals.

listening.  Because you just have to.

Confidentiality. One spouse will tell you things about the other spouse that you should not know, and the other spouse should not know that you know.

What is YOUR greater purpose?  Without a solid understanding of your greater purpose you will become a victim of the strife you are about to enter. 

#1 Let them know what to expect.  That means you need to set the rules. Those rules must be, "You can not compel me to take sides." .....

Unless the side is clear. such as one is committed to lifetime benefits of state housing.

#2. Know the root or cause of  emotion.  Too often the emotion expressed is acutally a self-assessment and must be addressed through discovery. What exactly is the SOURCE of resentment?....as an example.

#3. Be aware, all human action is to aviod shame. What is the shame that is being avoided? Pull out the teeth.

#4. Know this is not  your battle.

#5. More than anything listening is the best tool. 

#6. Have resources.

While I have not made it a specialty like experts Sally K. & David L. Hanson I have been involved with divorcing/separating couples over the years.  For me - transparency - has helped but I'm definitely no expert but appreciate the excellent advice I have "seen" over the years.

Do not get involved.  You can be empathetic to their situation, but be professional, stay impartial.. ... Remain neutral, calm and keep it a business transaction.

The dirvocing couples I have worked with were basically mutual agreement divorces. Still had to allow for delays, meeting with them separately to get paperwork signed, etc. Avoid taking sides and keep things calm and confidential. I did have one case where x husband refused to cooperate with a short sale, and another where x husband tried to stop sale, but the condo was in in wifes name. Sometimes an attorney is needed during the process. Remain professional no matter what happens.

I learned to be very very neutral but firm if they fight. And not just in divorce, but in the middle of siblings. 

The end of a marriage is a tragic event, my skills are better spent in helping them to patch things up than to benefit from watching the marriage fall apart.

Profiting from divorce is not part of my business plan, but helping people through tough times is part of my life plan.

Communication is the key.

A percent of sometthing is better than a percent of nothing.  

I have never had a problem working with both parties, offering a good listening ear, and being open, fair and honest with them.  I work hard to make it as painless as possible.

It takes lots of patience and also if representing both parties do not take sides.

I actually prefer not to work with those going through a divorce and prefer the divorce be over before working with either side

  If they have Attorneys, make sure those lawyers are kept apprised of everything.

If you have connection with divorce lawyers that helps.

I think a woman realtor will do better. You do not want to get caught in the cross fire.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but haven't had an acrimonious divorcing couple as clients.

Definitely stay neutral, cannot pick sides, no matter why they are getting divorced! 

Keep it as a business and not get take sides.

I have found that I don't take sides and I try not to handle divorce cases where I know the couple divorcing. I refer those to another agent...
