I'm a Broker. And I will correct anyone who calls me an agent. I had to do (practically the same) test twice, and everyone blames the broker for everything so show some damn respect! LOL

I am a Broker -- that is how I am legally licensed. So my title always reads Broker/Realtor. Realtor is neither a designation nor a license and I don't use them interchangeably. And in North Carolina we have no real estate agents... they are all either provisional brokers or full brokers.

Managing/Designated Broker. John is an associate broker but will say both broker or agent. With regard to representation and working directly with clients people seem to understand the term agent better than broker in our context. And it differentiates our job descriptions with current and past clients as well.-Kasey

I believe you can only be a Realtor (c) if you are a member of NAR. So I get to have that special title for a small annual fee. People can call me a Real-TOR like NAR likes to pronounce it or they can call me a real estate agent. I honestly don't care what you call me, so long as you call me.

I use them interchangeably, but I really prefer the "agent" title. I think it better describes the idea that we are a representative acting on behalf of the client.

The terms are not 'interchangable' though.

Not all real estate agents are Realtors.  So if you are not a member of the Realtor's organization, then you are either an agent or a broker.  On the flip side, since I am a Realtor, I do not use the term agent or broker.

The public has NO CLUE what the term "realtor" means.  Personally, I use "real estate agent" on my cards and everywhere.  When I do use realtor, it's not with special captialization or the trademark symbol.
